Brand positioning
I like the first example about TIVO ,because my host family just changed their TV system to TIVO . “watch what you want, when you want” it is so different from old TV, you can record the TV show when you were busy. Then watch it later , And we can watch TV without advertisements, but to tell the truth, I don’t think it’s necessary for me to buy a expensive thing like this ,although it is a good invention.
There are three things to do when we do brand positioning ,answer the questions :1 who is the target of this brand .so we should consider about what kind of the customs is possible to buy this brand , identify the characteristics.2what goal does the brand can get? So it can give us a direction of the brand positioning, a statement is need to guide the choice of targets ,identify the situations . 3why the brand should achieve the goal over other brands? So what’s the differences between our brand and other brands? I like to talk about the point of different. After read the paper ,I think it is so important to every brand. If a brand wants be known by people ,there must be something different from the compete brand, it can help people to reorganize the brand from all the similar ones. Here are some way to make brand position different:
1,the function of positioning. Most customs care about the function of a brand. If a brand can have a special function ,people can buy it when they need this function, or the target people know to buy it. For example: there are many kind of shampoo. Some can make hair healthy ,some can make hair looks shining, some have antidandruff agent .when people choose the shampoo, they get the function of shampoo they needs.
2,Emotional positioning,people have so many emotion, If a brand a evoke these emotion, touch people's heart,it will make customs agree with the brand,get the recognition of the brand,finally become a loyalty custom. For example,I still remember an advertisement of NICE brand(纳爱斯A Chinese washing powder manufacture),the ads is about a boy saw his mom was helping grandma wash ,then he tried to help his mom. "mom,I can help you!"It is so touch for Chinese,make people know parents are best teacher for children, and many people gland to see children knows to show filial to parents.NICE became very touch people's deep heart and successful.
3,consumer groups positioning.This positioning is focus on special group of people,and satisfy this people.Make customer has the feeling of belonging. For example: American girl place is focus on making products for girls,especially the pretty baby dolls.
There are more way to positioning ,from quality,price,service,brands wants to be known,create differences when poisoning.
