凯恩斯《通论》（第24章）某段比较翻译研究
But apart from this contemporary mood, the ideas of economists and political philosophers, both when they are right or when they are wrong, are more powerful than is commonly understood. Indeed the world is ruled by little else. Practical men, who believe themselves to be quite exempt from any intellectual influences, are usually the slaves of some defunct economist. Madmen in authority, who hear voices in the air, are distilling their frenzy from some academic scribbler of a few years back.

即使撇开此种当代情绪不谈，经济学家以及政治哲学家之思想，其力量之大，往往出乎常人意料1。事实上统治世界者，就只是这些思想而已2。许多实行家自以为不受3任何学理之影响，却往往当了某个已故经济学家之奴隶4。狂人执政，自以为得天启示，实则其狂想之来，乃得自若干年5前的某个学人。
评论：1. commonly understood（理解、认识）, 不等于 commonly expected (意料)。另外both when they are right or when they are wrong, 没有译出。 2. little else 不等于nothing else. 3. quite （十分，相当程度地）没有译出。 4.不是奴隶， 而是思想的奴隶。 5. a few years back 是没有多少年前、或几年前，此处强调曾几何时在学界还苟活，而今安在的蹩脚学人，如果译成若干年前则丧失此意。
