One Week or Less, Featuring Harvard Faculty, Art, and
Architecture
This fall, HAA is offering several short yet robust travel
programs. Join Professor Diana Eck , Master of Lowell House,
in witnessing the emotional return of the
Lowell House Bells to their original home at Danilov Monastary
after nearly 80 years at Harvard on
Treasures of Moscow (Sep 8-15) . Let Helen Molesworth ,
Maisie K. and James R. Houghton Curator of Contemporary Art, lead
you through
Mexico City's (Oct 15-19) vibrant contemporary art and
architecture scene, including behind-the-scenes tours, receptions
with dignitaries, and intimate visits with leading artists and art
collectors. Or, travel alongside William Saunders , editor
of Harvard Design Magazine and assistant dean of the GSD, to see
the best of
Barcelona's Architecture and Urban Design (Oct 16-22) .

in the Genome's Trash
The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard often grabs headlines for
its discoveries about the genetics underlying such diseases as
cancer, heart problems, autism, and diabetes. But alongside this
high-profile medical research, the institute also funds a team that
is working steadily to sequence the genomes of mammals large and
small, from the African elephant to the tree shrew.
