一位外国教授准备回复匿名人Conrad Cheng的信件 

这封信并没有发给Conrad Cheng或Jason Hall, 因为这位外国教授要邹恒甫本人决定是否值得回复匿名人Conrad Cheng/Jason Hall. 邹恒甫本人觉得完全没有必要. 现在我们贴出来供大家欣赏. 我们要警告利用外国教授打击邹恒甫的那些搞阴谋诡计的败类.

Dear Mr. Cheng,

Thank you for your message.  A couple of questions have come to mind about your correspondence.

First, I wonder why you, a graduate student at Beida, are concerning yourself in campus politics instead of devoting your time to your studies in economics.  If I understand it correctly, this is just the kind thing that about which Professor Zou has leveled criticism and has put him at odds with his colleagues--that is, the lack of dedication to serious economics training.

Second, since this seems to be such a major issue in the economics profession in China, I wonder why I have received this email from you rather than from one of your professors.  In my experience professors discuss issues, especially contentious issues, between themselves rather than indirectly through their graduate students.  If your professors are too busy to write on their own behalf, then perhaps this matter doesn't warrant the importance you seem to attach to it.

Finally, before I accept your allegation that Professor Zou was the author of the Blog on which my name and others appeared, I would want to make some inquiries.  My intuition tells me that someone is playing games for political purposes, since from my experience Professsor Zou is a person of high integrity and an enormous asset to graduate education in China.  By the way, if Professor Zou were to ask for my support I would give it to him unconditionally.
