Module4 My family

Unit 1 how many people are there in your family?

Ⅰ. The analysis of textbook.

1.The position of this lesson.

It’s in Unit 1,Module 4.Book A of Grade Seven.

2.Status and function.

Class takes family as topic of conversation. It’s closed to Ss’ real life. The Ss have learnt “how many…are there?” “There is/are…”. In this unit they will learn “have got ”and some words about family members. By studying this lesson, train the Ss to briefly introduce one’s family and communicate with their family members.

3. Teaching aims:

Emotion aim:

1.        Make students be confident during studying English

2.        To learn to cooperate with others and communicate with their family members.

3.        To get fun from English studying

Knowledge aim:

1.      To understand and speak out the new words and structures.

Key vocabulary: aunt, uncle, grandmother, grandfather, grandparent, and sister.

Key structures: I have got…

                         I haven’t got…

Have you got…

Yes, I have./No ,I haven’t.

                2. To understand the dialogue involving introduction of family members.

Ability aim:

To briefly introduce one’s family.

4.Key points:

 Knowledge aim & Ability aim

.The analysis of the studying situation.

1.They are students of Grade One. They can speak only a little English. But they are interested in English. It’s good for English studying.

2.It’s hard for the Ss to master the new structures; we should adopt the training being unlike a form.

.Teaching method

Audio-lingual approach              The task-based approach

.Teaching aids:

CAI, tape-recorder.

.Activity conception:

TPR, Group-works.

.Teaching steps:

Step1.Warming-up

1.Greeting/Free talk. (TPR)

(To stimulate the atmosphere in class)

2.Say the chant “how many are there?”

(It can help Ss to review the structures “how many…are there?” “there is/are…”)

Step2.Presentation

New words

1.To show a picture with my mother and father and introduce them to the Ss

              This is my mother.

              This is my father.

       Father and mother, I love you.

      

                        Family

(Elicit the topic    FAMILY. Write it on the blackboard.)

2.Show a family tree with pictures.

T: This is a photo of my family. How many people are there?

S: There are…

 Introduce my family member to the Ss and teach the new words: aunt, uncle, grandmother, grandfather, grandparent, and sister.

(Present the basic knowledge to the students.)

3.Guessing—who is she/he?

The others guess the words when some one does the actions.

(Let Ss clear master the meaning and pronunciation of the new words.)

4.Activity1

Have Ss look at the picture in activity 1 on P20 and label Tony’s family.

(Consolidate the words.)

                                          Structure

1.show the big picture and elicit the structures:

I have got…

I haven’t got…

Have you got…

Yes, I have./No ,I haven’t.

(Write down the key structure and then practise it with the new words.)

2.Ask and Answer—Activity 6

①To get Ss to introduce their family member to each other.

(Let them learn to cooperate with others)

②Have some students present the dialogue in front of the class.

3. ①Talk about someone’s family.

 

           He has got…

       He hasn’t got…

Elicit       Has he got …

              Yes, he has.

②To briefly introduce one’s family

Step3.Practice

1. Tony’s family.

①To show the family tree of Tony and talk about his family.

②Complete the sentences. —Activity4

       A.    Listen to the tape in whole class.

B.    Ask Ss to do it by themselves.

C.    Play the conversation for the Ss to check..

2. Listen and read. ---Activity3

①Have Ss read through the content in Activity 3.

②Play the recording and have students repeat after each pause

(To get the native pronunciation and intonation.)

③Put Ss into groups of four and make them practise the conversation. Ask them to change the roles each time.

Step4.Consolidation

Consolidate what they have learned.

1.Ask and answer

①Ask Ss to use the pictures practise the target language.

②Show their dialogue in whole class.

2.Survey

Do a survey in group. Ask and answer with the target language.
