Mr. Violin
Mr. Daniel Violin is a tall American with short hair and a tall nose. He comes from San Francisco, California and has lived in China for 14 years. He is now a reporter and editor for the magazine Guangzhou Today. He also has a job as a teacher.
Mr. Violin is a very humorous and interesting person. He likes traveling. He has been to almost every country in Southeast Asia, such as Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.
In 1988 Mr. Violin arrived in China. He went to Liaocheng, Shangdong. After staying there for about a year, he reached Hong Kong. Two years ago, he came to Panyu, Guangdong. He has visited many famous cities in China, like Xi’an and Beijing. He liked Xi’an best for its old and grand wall surrounding the city.
Mr. Daniel has many hobbies, like reading and writing, swimming, watching TV, playing tennis and learning Chinese. He could speak very good Chinese now. He also enjoys listening to all sorts of music except jazz. He loves Italian cuisine and spicy food from Sichuan and Hunan.
Mr. Violin thinks that every one has his or her characteristics. He feels that all people are different, but they may share something in common. For instance, in Hong Kong, he noticed that the pace of life was very fast and the people there liked to shout. However, he liked to talk with open-minded or more educated people.
Mr. Violin thinks that cities in China are very interesting, but the countryside is even move attractive. The reason, he says, is that the heart and the spirit of a nation’s traditional culture is best shown in the small and inconspicuous regions instead of the prosperous and world famous parts.
Mr. Violin is really a knowledgeable and interesting man. It’s really a pleasure to communicate with him.
