偶尔翻开一个笔记本，上有不少先生（与我同学时（1980年））给我抄的英文诗歌，觉得他虽然不浪漫，但是帮我做了很多技术性的工作，抄了不少诗歌，其实英文诗歌也是很值得一读的，其思想性、韵律都是值得我们赏析的。

   有位作家说，中文的诗歌几句就是一幅画，英文没法比，而中文难撑起大部头，中文一长就很烂。我觉得，他不明白这是逻辑的问题，英、中、日三国，英国人的逻辑最强，日本人的逻辑最差，中国人居中。可惜与我一起翻译大部头英文著作的学生“只见树木，不见森林”，未能领会英文的乐趣，翻译完英文著作的人，写一般科技论文应该不在话下。大部头的中文很难看出逻辑，如《红楼梦》，所以可以有多种结尾，我记得其中有很好的诗句“半卷秋帘半掩门，斩冰为土玉为盆”，谁能帮我把后面续上？中文诗词的韵律平仄对仗太难学，老妈曾经试图教教我，我觉得只要能够押上最后一个字即可。文革中家里的唐诗宋词被人顺走了，害得我错过了背诗的年纪。

   英文诗歌在上世纪80年代挺受大家欢迎的，其美好的旋律一直在学生中传唱。一次老同学吃饭，我念叨，“What is this life if, full of care”，有位文科也不是很好，当了老板天天忙着挣钱的男同学接着说，“We have no time to stand and stare”，大家哈哈一笑。看来文革冲击了我们这代人学习四书五经，但是却送给我们美好的80年代。英文诗歌、小说中有美好的人性情怀，无论是学习英文还是领会其精神境界都值得我们一读。Song(歌）中 Haply I may remember,And haply may forget 多么值得传唱，其生死观多么轻松，而Leisure（悠闲）也是值得我们现在忙碌如蚂蚁的大都市人思考的，抄录这二首如下：（没想到用google很容易找到，有心者可以找不同的译文对比一下，Song的译文我在网上看到的都是徐志摩的，但是，我个人认为还是柳一青的较好，翻译得比较对仗，尤其是最后两句以叠句的方式翻译，比较上口。莫扎特说过，好的音乐应该是能哼唱的，我认为好的诗歌莫过如此。）

       另外，跟贺仁睦教授那些当年的文革前的老大学生当同学时，他们可活跃了，我跟他们学会了跳舞，学会了一些英文歌，其中包括Star，特别好听，特搜索如下（其中文译文可不是很好啊），人小时候游戏，中年经历，老了就只剩下回忆了。Twinkle, twinkle, little star，How I wonder what you are？星星，小星星，你是谁呢？
