周末乘船到Watson Bay，徒步去南角South Head看大海。路上看到了好几棵高大的刺桐树，树上还有一群叽叽喳喳聒噪的彩虹鹦鹉。

刺桐别名海桐、火焰花、鹦哥花等，为蝶形花科刺桐属落叶乔木，原产亚洲热带地区。

刺桐树高大挺拔，枝叶茂盛，喜强光照射，花期在春天，先花后叶，花大如手掌，花序硕长，花色鲜红如火炬，每一只花序就好似一串熟透了的火红的辣椒。

远望红色华美的花朵，好像树上落满了红色的鹦鹉，因此又称鹦哥花。也难怪这么多鹦鹉喜欢落在树上叽叽呱呱了。
