地层断裂而形成的天然湖泊——邛海，又名邛池，位于西昌市东南5公里，是四川省独自拥有的第一大天然淡水湖。湖面27.678平方公里，最深处18米，常年蓄水约3.2亿立方米。邛海是史前地质构造运动时断陷形成的。湖周群山环抱，绿树成荫，环境优美，景色宜人。湖水常年清澈，四季均宜游泳、泛舟、垂钓。邛海四季如春，冬无严寒，夏无酷暑，是理想的“御寒避暑胜地，休闲度假天堂”。沿湖有海滨公园、新沙滩、月亮湾度假村、东郊公园游览点。
    邛海盛产鱼虾，是有名的天然渔场和水上运动场，沿岸绿树成荫，远处群山环抱，海滨公园水榭长廊，配以时令鲜花，格外引人注目。

    As the largest inland natural lake in Sichuan Province, Qionghai Lake or Qiongchi Lake formed by the faultage of earth crust is situated 5 km to the southeast of Xichang City, covering an area of 27.678 sq. km with deepest spot being 18 meters deep. It can reserve an annual water volume of 320 million cubic meters. It is formed in pre-history earth movement. Embraced by mountains and forests, the lake provides clear water all year round, a pleasant place for swimming, boating and angling. Alongside the lake are waterfront parks, the New Sand Beach, The Moon Bay Resort and the East Suburban Park.
   Qionghai Lake, a famous natural fishing field and water sports field teemed with fish and prawns, is encircled by trees on its bank and mountains afar. The waterside corridor of the waterfront parks, along with seasonal flora, is an exceptional highlight.
