Biography of Yi Liao

Yi Liao, whose original name is Zhu Ming, was born in 1970 in Gansu Province, China.

He currently lives in Zhengzhou, Henan Province as a free artist.

His solo exhibition has been hold in China National Museum, Beijing Modern Art Museum and Henan Museum. And he has published more than ten personal art critic article collections that including ‘Meditation in Art Atmosphere’ ‘Magic Realm’ ‘Realm of Yi Liao’ and ‘Japan Travel Notes’.

The major important academic exhibitions that he has joined is including ‘The Door to the Century-China Art Invitation Exhibition 1979-1999’ , ‘Liberation of Calligraphy Exhibition (Tokyo)’, ‘Korea-China-Japan 20 People’s Modern Calligraphy Exhibition (2006,Seoul)’ and ‘Script-Art: Europe, Russia, China and Japan (2007, Italy ).

He has been visit Japan as a visiting artist on invitation of Japan Culture Department in 2004 and taking several academic communication trips to Japan and Korea from then on by the invitation of major governmental and non-governmental art organization of the two countries.

His art has been reported as special topic by many medias that  including China Calligraphy, Fine Art Magazine (China), Oriental Art, Ink (Japan) and CCTV.

这张图片是摄影师周立山去年拍的，当时夏天，郑州的天气热得酷毙了，我在仓库里光着膀子在写字，因为没开空调，真的是大汗淋淋，不过挺喜欢那种刺激的快感！正在写，门开了，周立山进来了，他刚好在我的仓库楼下拍片子，顺便来看我，见我当时疯狂的样子，他便马上进入状态拍起来，因为我在仓库的窗户边上站着和他说话，额头上冒着汗，手上全是墨汁，黑乎乎的，结果，他按下了当时的那一瞬间，应该挺经典的吧．陈丹青说艺术就是臭美，愈想愈在理，那我也臭美臭美………………
