牛口峪水库1959年动工，1972年12月落成。完成土石方60万立方米，水库流域面积2．3平方公里。库容1000万立方米。建有主坝l座、副坝6座，2条输水管道。主坝高35．4米， 坝顶长290米。1972年后，改建为石化公司污水存放库。这里植树种草、养鱼饲鸟、建亭搭台，水体和空气得到了进一步净化。
