Drive to Holland tomorrow

(2006-04-30 20:14:05)

The SOF regatta had been all fininshed on 28th and after I got the first on the medal race(the 11th race), I ended with the third place overall. Paige(USA) won the gold medal once again after the world championships in Brazil last year, and Sophie(FRA) got the second--almost the same as the world results. Surely I am very happy to be the top three in this world event. Still, I was so worried about my performances during the downwind leg in very light air--for I was overtaken by 32 boats during six light wind races. I coundn't find the feelings as well and donno what I should do about it. So even I had very good start and good courses in upwind, I could also drop to very bad place in light conditions. This is the most serious problem on my sailing skills at present, so I need to slove it as soon as possible while training overseas, otherwise I will have no advantage to compete with the world top sailors. Despite the better performances during the medium wind, I am not good at strong wind, too. Because of my weak physical power! This is an old problem which consisted all the time when we started to sail Laser Radial. And we will keep train hard to remain good sailing performance during strong wind.

We will drive to Holland tomorrow afternoon and then stay there just for a few days only to move to Austria for the World sailing games. Hope I can sail better then this time in France and get some apparent progresses. See u there!
