The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine是世界最大的天主教大教堂，坐落在纽约市阿姆斯特丹街与１１２街相交处，与著名的常春藤大学哥伦比亚大学的校区相邻。今晨带着凯儿去哥大参加一年一度的科学培训计划竞考，历时三小时。在等待期间参观了这一闻名于世的大教堂。

 

　　St. John the Divine始建于１８９２年，历经百余年，至今完成２／３。她的竣工仍然遥遥无期，但她并不比欧洲历史上的大教堂造的慢。那些史上有名的教堂多是造了几百年。２００１年经历火灾，现在陷入资金匮乏的窘境。

 

　　St. John the Divine的特色是堂中有堂，堂堂相邻又各不相同（分国度和文化），这与纽约作为一个移民城市十分地相称。记得巴黎圣母院藏有大量的雕塑，这里很少看见。教堂所共有的是恢弘庄严气势，配上唱诗班的音乐，和激越的布道，有一种神圣的凛然。
