Remember me when I am gone away,

Gone far away into the silent land;

When you can no more hold me by the hand,

Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.

Remember me when no more day by day

You tell me of our future that you plann'd:

Only remember me; you understand

It will be late to counsel then or pray.

Yet if you should forget me for a while

And afterwards remember, do not grieve:

For if the darkness and corruption leave

A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,

Better by far you should forget and smile

Than that you should remember and be sad. 

记住我吧，当我远远离开，

进入遥远的静谧之地；

当你不能再握住我手，

我也无法欲离还留、脉脉情意。

记住我吧，当你不能天天对我

诉说你为我们的未来如何算计；

只能记住我，你知道已经太晚 ——

要为我祈祷或者与我商议。

可是你亦无须伤心，

如果忽而遗忘我，忽而却又记起：

因为要是黑暗与腐朽还会留下

我以前思绪的一点儿残迹，

那么，你不如微笑着将我遗忘，

而不是痛苦地将我牢记。

＊ 十九世纪英国女诗人罗赛蒂的这首诗，意境和内容很像诗人徐志摩译过的那首《歌》

       （即 When I am dead, my dearest” —— “当我去世的时候，最亲爱的”，

    想象诗人自己离世之后所爱之人是否还会牢记诗人。诗的前面一部分都是嘱咐别人要记住自己，但是最后六句一转，说：即使忘记也无关紧要，因为要是牢记会带来痛苦的话，不如“微笑着忘记”。原诗共十四句。拙译双句押韵，押［i］韵。
