I have been here before,

       But when or how I cannot tell:

I know the grass beyond the door,

       The sweet keen smell,

The sighing sound, the lights around the shore.

You have been mine before, —

       How long ago I may not know:

But just when at that swallow's soar

       Your neck turned so,

Some veil did fall, — I knew it all of yore.

Has this been thus before?

       And shall not thus time's eddying flight

Still with our lives our love restore

       In death's despite,

And day and night yield one delight once more?

似曾到过此地，

可何时何故已了无可记。

依稀只见门外芳草依依，

清香扑鼻;

涛声阵阵如叹息，岸边灯光冥迷。

曾将心儿交付于你，

可多久以前却已无从回忆。

只记得飞燕惊起，

你一回首，

纱巾落地 —— 如今都已成往昔。

难道一切均已过去？

旧时光竟疾逝如风驱电击。

尽管生死相隔，

能否再生肉体、 重建情意，

又一次日以继夜共享爱的甜蜜？

＊ 这是十九世纪英国女诗人罗赛蒂的又一首名诗，扑簌迷离、似幻似真。全诗充分表现了女性诗人的细腻精致、情意缠绵、灼热如火。难怪成了罗赛蒂传世的名作。 原诗共三段，每段五句。押韵形式为ABABA。拙译一韵到底，除两句以外，均押［i/ü］韵。
