Just recently, Dr Dilip Kumar Biswas, the former PhD Student from Institute of Botany of Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOB), now the staff from a Canadian Institute of Agriculture Science, received a congratulation letter from Professors Steve Long and Rachel Shekar, the editors of Global Change Biology (GCB), who congratulated Dr Biswas on his contributions to the development of GCB.

The letter indicates that of all the 724 articles the journal has published since January 2008, Dr Biswas's paper, titled with “Genotypic differences in leaf biochemical, physiological and growth responses to ozone in 20 winter wheat cultivars released over the past 60 years”, is among one of the 25 most-cited since publication according to Web of Science, placing it among the top 3% of articles. His PhD tutor, Professor JIANG Gaoming of IOB was the correspondent author of the article which wined the reputation.

GCB continues to go from strength to strength. Although a relatively young journal, the Impact Factor is 5.564 in the year of 2009. Dr Biswas's article is among the top 3% most cited articles from the period of 2008-2010.

The editors from GCB thank Dr Biswas once again for his excellent contribution to GCB, and they hope him to continue to consider GCB for the outlet for his best research work.

Dr Biswas came from Bangladesh and he became the first foreign PhD student in IOB form the period of 2004-2007, with Professor JIANG Gaoming as his PhD tutor.  Dr Biswas aimed to explore the ecophysiological responses of crop species to the increases of ozone concentrations.
