My trips to Los Angeles are, if nothing else, always exciting. First of all, I have to guard Kobe Bryant, who is arguably the best in the game. People always ask me why Kobe is so good and I always tell them that while he is extremely skilled, he is the most mentally strong and competitive player in the league. He is never satisfied, especially when he is scoring points. If he has 30 points, then he wants 40. If he has 40, he wants to score 50. It takes a great deal of mental discipline to guard Kobe. Last night, he scored 45 points. And while most people would look at that and said that we did a poor job defending him, I think we did a pretty good job. He shot the ball 32 times and shot 27 free throws. That is a lot of shots. My goal as a defender is to try to make my offensive player take as many shots as points he scores. So if my man scores 30 points but takes 30 shots, that is excellent defense. I don't g et caught up in how many points that I allow, I only focus on the efficiency.

We played an inconsistent game. We were very poor in the first quarter, but played great for the next three quarters. We, however, played a poor last two minutes that allowed the Lakers to come back from a 12 point deficit and tie the game with 12 seconds left.

Now, I don't get to play the part of the hero very often. When you play with two superstars like Yao and Tracey, they are the heroes that win the games most often. When TMac threw me the ball with 2.5 seconds left and I drained a 3-pointer deep from the wing to put us up three, I was so excited! I had airballed my last two shots and so I did not have the most confidence in my shot. In a situation like that, I did not have time to think about my confidence. I caught the ball and just tried to get a shot up before the clock expired. And it went in!!!!! It was only the second time in my career that I have hit a game winning shot. Usually I do not take time to enjoy games like against the Lakers, but today I am really enjoying it. As I enter my 7th year, I am going to try to enjoy and savor every game (especially the good ones!), because I work so hard sometimes, I forget to enjoy myself. Ha!

While this game was exciting, I prefer that we do not lose leads late in the game, but a win is a win and I will take it!
