enlightenment

(this is one of those things that i've been meaning to write
about...)
sometimes the most interesting things happen when you least expect it...
a while ago, a friend gave me a very enlightening gift... why do i call it "enlightening"...? bc it brought an
interesting situation to my attention! first of
all, let me explain this gift... it's a very unconventional gift
actually, a hidden camera! she gave me this gift
bc previously she had seen rumors and reports of paparazzi or
overzealous fans who make arrangements ($$ or breaking-in) to enter
rooms (hotel rooms or even houses) inhabited by celebrities in
order to do any number of questionable (and somewhat gross)
things... perhaps go through the trash, sleep on their beds, sniff
their pillows, touch their used toothbrushes or
cups! ugh... haha just thinking about it makes me
a little bit nauseous and skin-crawly! anyways,
when she gave me this present, i kind of just laughed it off, like
who would really do something so pointless and
disgusting?
i told some of my co-workers about this present, and they thought it was so cool, and told me to bring it next time i was traveling for work. so i did, but i didn't have time to
analyze how to go about operating it, but i figured we could take a
look at it together. so that day we were getting
ready to leave the hotel for work, my co-worker said, hey why don't
you set that camera-thing up? we were scrambling
around, trying to figure out how to operate the device, but we
didn't have enough time and had to leave for work, so my co-worker
just put it down and said we'll mess with it when we have more
time! so it wasn't until much
later, when i had gotten back home that i decided to take a look at
it again. looking carefully through the manual
and following the instructions, i realized that it was on and
recording! that day, somewhere amidst the
fiddling around, one of us had accidentally turned it
on! it was kind of embarrassing, bc we had been
recording ourselves for who knows how long without knowing
it! i opened the video files and laughed when i
saw my co-workers flipping the camera around, with perplexed and
earnest looks on their faces, passing the camera back and forth,
and then putting it down, and of course i saw myself, and my hair
stylist getting ready to go, etc... it was really
funny!
what i didn't expect to see was that after we had left the hotel, 3 members of the hotel staff entered the room and went through our things, mine and my co-workers'! one woman
actually had a camera, and she took photos of everything, the
clothes, the make-up and hair things left on the table, opening up
boxes and touching and photographing every inane thing in that
room... i was astounded and rather shocked! they
were in the room for a whole hour, doing heaven-knows-what to our
things, my fan letters and gifts, our lunch leftovers,
etc! i couldn't believe that we had first of all
turned on the camera by accident, and secondly by some strange
fluke had actually recorded strange intruders! i
should explain that usually when we travel for work and stay at
hotels, we specifically request no housekeeping, no one to enter
our rooms at all, bc sometimes our co-workers have important
documents and items or even cash, and as for myself, you all know
that i crave that little bit of personal space as well as being in
danger of having allergic reactions so easily that could affect my
work and health that i have to keep things a certain
way. when i told my co-workers and friends,
everyone freaked out, some ppl even saying we should sue, no one
could believe that there are ppl who would REALLY do something like
this!
anyways, after much discussion, i have decided that i do not wish to disclose the name of the hotel or even the city this occurred. the reasons are bc the hotel itself was
a great hotel, the other staff was very nice and polite and
respectful, and if i say which city, i'm sure you fans are clever
enough to be able to find out which hotel, and i do not wish to
blame or punish the other members of this hotel for the actions of
3 people. it was just really that 1 woman, and
her 2 accomplices that are to blame for this huge invasion of
privacy and unprofessionalism, and more importantly i want to tell
everyone to BE CAREFUL! i remember we even saw
the woman who took the photos when we were checking out, and we all
remember her expression to be totally natural, no signs of
sneakiness, guilt, or anxiety/worry about getting caught, no
remorse, just a very professional and "sincere"
smile. this is what bothers me the most, is
knowing that she has most likely done this before to others and
will most likely do this again, bc she is so assured of never being
discovered.
it's just a shame that it's so hard to tell what kind of morals or lack of morals are at the heart of the ppl you come in contact with in different situations. my advice to you all is
when staying at a hotel, please be careful and definitely lock up
your valuables! if you are on the flip side and
know someone who does this type of thing or are contemplating doing
it yourself, i really hope this will allow you to see things from
another point of view and please PLEASE reconsider... it's the
simplest rule to follow that might just help you the
most...

我告诉我么工作同事关于这个礼物，他们觉得这个很酷，告诉我当我下次因工作而旅游时带着它，我照做了，但我没有时间分析如何去操作它，但我想我们可以一起研究看看。所以那天当我们准备离开饭店去工作，我的工作同事说，嘿为什么我们不要架设起这个摄影机?我们争抢起来，试着找出如何操作这个装置但我没有足够的时间，需要离开去工作，所以我的同事放下它说当我们有够多时间再拿来拍!所以过没多久，当我回到家，我决定再次看看它，仔细的看说明书和根据指示，我意识到它是打开录像中!那天，大概在胡乱操作时，我们其中之一意外的开启它，这让人觉得不好意思，在我们不知情下我们录下我们自己，我打开录像档案，当我看到我的同事用着困惑及严肃的表情翻弄着录像机我笑了，来回的传递，然后放下，当然我看到了我自己，我的发型师准备要离开之类的...真的很有趣!
而之后我看到预期之外的内容，在我们离开之后，三个饭店的员工进入房间乱翻我们的东西，我的及我的同事!一位女生拿的照相机，拍下所有东西。衣服，化妆品，在桌上的发饰，打开箱子，东摸西摸，拍下房间里的每件东西...我非常震惊及惊吓!他们在房间里待了大概一个小时，天晓得他们对我们的东西做了什么，歌迷的信件和礼物，吃剩的食物等等。首先我不敢相信我们偶然打开录像机，靠着莫名的侥幸拍下怪异的入侵者!我应该说明通常我们因工作而旅行待在饭店时，我们明确的要求不要客房服务，因为有时我的同事有重要的文件甚至是现金，至于我自己，你们都知道我不但渴望一点私人的空间而且也很容易处在有过敏反应的危险下，可能会影响我的工作和健康，我必须让事情保持正轨上。我告诉以的同事及朋友，每个人都吓坏了，有人甚至说应该提出告诉，没人相信真的会有人做这样的事情!
不管如何，经过讨论之后，我决定不要揭发饭店的名字甚至的发生的城市，原因是因为饭店本身是很好的饭店，其它的员工很好，有礼貌和很恭敬，若我说是哪一个城市，我确定你们歌迷一定够聪明去找出哪一家饭店，我不希望为了这三的人而去责备或处罚饭店的其它成员，那只是一个女人和其它两的同伙要承担这个侵害隐私及没有职业道德的责任，更重要的我想告诉每个人一定要小心!我甚至记得当我们办理退房登记时，我们看过那个照相的女人，我们都记得她的神态很自然，没有任何鬼鬼祟祟，内疚，焦虑/担心被抓的征兆，没有任何自责，只表现出很专业"真诚"的微笑，这让我很心烦，猜想她很有可能在以前也对别人做一样的事情，因为她如此确定从来不会被发现。
只是觉得有点惭愧很难分辨你在不同情形接触的人，他们心中到底是怎样一种道德或者没有道德。我对你们的忠告是当你们住在饭店时，请小心和确实地将贵重物品锁上!若你是处于另外一个立场，知道某人会做相似的事或是你自己考虑要这样做，我真的希望这会让你从另一面看这件事，请重新考虑...接着是最简单的道理，或许会对你很有帮助…
