    海驴岛位于山东威海成山头的北部海域，距陆地最近距离为４海里，面积大约0.11平方千米。由于风景优美，远离陆地，所以吸引着无数的海鸟来此栖息、产卵、繁衍。

    海驴岛每逢春季，成千上万的海鸥来此栖息产卵，岩缝中鸟巢鳞次栉比，数不胜数，所以又被称为海鸥王国。岛上威峰兀立，四周海水浩瀚碧蓝，与成千上万只海鸥构成的雄伟景观，不仅令人叹为观止，神凝形释，故海驴岛有“海鸥王国”之雅号。海驴岛相传为猪八戒当年用扁单挑着一只鸡和驴过海时，因天将破晓，鸡鸣驴嚎，不慎将鸡和驴落入海中而化为鸡鸣岛和海驴岛。

隔海望去，悬崖陡壁，花团锦簇，一群群海鸥往来盘旋其上，整个岛屿状似一只瘦驴卧于海中，所以得名海驴岛。由于岛上海鸥很多，而当地人称海鸥为海猫子，所以海驴岛又被称为海猫岛。

　　海驴岛景区总投资5000万元，岛上建有游客观鸟台、钓鱼台、穿山隧道、盘山小径、听涛轩。岛上长有成片的芙蓉丛、芦苇、野枣树，每年春夏芙蓉盛开时节，海鸟们在此孵卵育雏、生息繁衍，白鸟红花相映成趣。

　　海驴岛被千万年来不知疲倦的海浪冲刷雕蚀得危峰兀立、怪石嶙峋，与起落的海潮、连天的波涛、精灵似的鸥鹭共同构成风景独特的海岛风光，令人遐思不断、流连忘返！

　　所谓“海外有仙山，山在虚无飘渺间”！乘船登岛，到海驴岛上寻找悠久的神话传说，浏览情趣盎然的海岛风光，由衷赞一声美。
