(2007-06-12 17:50:56)Out on the street, traffic police were busy put the signs of reminders telling drivers not to sound the horn when they pass the exam site. Such companies asChinaMobile and Railcom set up their tents offering free drinks for the exam takers. Almost all the society was involved in the Big Day，which has been a hot topic on the media and the attention of the whole nation.
Long before the exam took place, students began to gather at the exam site on foot, by bike or by taxi. Some parents even walked their kids to the site, carrying books and other stuff for their kids, as if to take the exam themselves. Students were taking the exam while parents were taking the other kind of test in the sun. Regardless of the burning sun, some of the parents expectantly waited outside the exam site, sweat keeping running down their cheeks, which reflects the typical phenomenon found inChina during the national exam time. The parents expect too much of their kids on account of the severe competition in the job market. They are longing for the success of their kids on the exam, their kids could go to a better college and that they could find a better job after their graduation from college.
The examination is the only criteria for college admissions. So the annual national entrance college exam get millions of students involved and many of them are fighting a losing battle. Students are clear that a poor performance on the test almost always means giving up on that goal to go to college. Students hoping to attend college will spend most of their waking moments studying,so they have to get used to a rote learning.
What has happened this year will happen next year.If they fail in their first attempt, some of the exam takers will repeat the last year of high school life and give it another try in the following year. Let's make a wish that all kids could do well in the exam.
