The Three Billy Goats Gruff
A traditional folktale, adapted for Eurythmy by Diane Tatum
Once upon a time, there were three billygoats who lived on a hillside. They were brothers.
The biggest billygoat had great big horns and he went:
Stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp
Stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp(拟声词)
The second billygoat had very fine hoofs and he went:
The littlest billygoat had little teeny horns, and he went:
Trippety – skippety - toss your horns!
Trippety – skippety-
And they were all gruff. Winter had been cold and hard, and they were very hungry. They looked across to the far hillside, and there they could see the fresh green grasses starting to grow: One little teeny shoot and another little teeny shoot, all lifting their heads up above the earth.
(Very high pitch) “Meeeh” said the littlest billygoat, which
meant:
(Middle pitch) “Meeeeeeh” said the second billygoat, which meant:
(Low pitch) “Meeeeeeeeeh!” said the biggest billygoat, which
meant:
And he started off down the hillside:
Stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp
Stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp(拟声词)
The second billygoat trotted along on his fine hoofs:
Trip – trap – trip – trap – trip – trap – trip – trap(拟声词)
And the littlest billygoat scampered off behind them:
Trippety – skippety - toss your horns!
Trippety – skippety-
Down at the bottom of the hillside there was a rushing, roaring, raging river, and over the river there was a bridge.
Under the bridge there lived a mean, old Troll.
The littlest billygoat went first:
Trippety – skippety – trippety – skippety
Trippety – skippety - toss your horns! – Halfway across the bridge
And from down below…从底下
“It is I, the Littlest Billygoat Gruff!”
“Oh, don’t do that – No, don’t do that – 噢,不要那样做。
Wait for my brother – He’s bigger and tastier that I am.”
And the Littlest Billygoat Gruff made his way:
Trippety – skippety – trippety – skippety
Trippety – skippety – trippety – skippety (拟声词)
Trippety – skippety - toss your horns! – All the way across the bridge.
Then the Second Billygoat Gruff went:
Trip – trap – trip – trap – trip – trap – trip – trap(拟声词)
Trip – trap-
And from down below…从底下
“It is I, the Second Billygoat Gruff!”
Wait for my brother – He’s bigger and tastier that I am.”
And the Second Billygoat Gruff made his way across the bridge.
Then the Biggest Billygoat Gruff came across:
Stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp
Stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp(拟声词)
Stamp – tramp – half – way – across the bridge,
Stamp – tramp –
And from down below…从底下
“It is I, the Biggest Billygoat Gruff!”
“Oh-ho-ho!” said the mean old troll, “I’m coming to eat you up!”
And the troll began to climb and climb higher and higher
And he slung his leg over the bridge and marched, calling,
And there was the Biggest Billygoat, with his huge horns and he went
Crick – crack – click – clack – snick – snack!
Crick – crack – click – clack – snick – snack!
And the troll went – Kersplash! Right into the water!
And the waves smashed, the waves crashed, the waves splashed
And then little by little by little, the waves went still.
And the Biggest Billygoat Gruff went
Stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp
Stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp – stamp – tramp(拟声词)
Stamp – tramp – all the way across the bridge,
And he met with his brother, who went
Trip – trap – trip – trap
Trippety – skippety – trippety – skippety

Trippety – skippety
Trippety – skippety – trippety – skippety
Trippety – skippety – trippety – skippety
Trippety – skippety
And they ran up the hillside, and began to munch at the sweet green grasses.
All day they munched and munched, until they could eat no more.
(Very high pitch) “Meeeh” said the littlest billygoat, which
meant:
(Middle pitch) “Meeeeeeh” said the second billygoat, which meant:
(Low pitch) “Meeeeeeeeeh!” said the biggest billygoat, which
meant:
And he crossed his hooves, and just blinked.
The littlest billygoat had a belly this big, (B)

And by that time, Father Sun had gone to bed, and the moon was on
the rise.
I see the moon…
