Just in time for Christmas, the Looking Glass folks have finally released the 1.0 version of their very cool 3D window system. They've even packaged it up into some easy-to-install binary builds. If you want to try writing an app that takes advantage of all the 3D facilities (rather than just being an X window that flies around in 3D), try out Plethora, a NetBeans module to make it easier.
