Site Analysis and Planning investigates the natural systems, physiographic factors, land use facilities, and development programs affecting site analysis, planning, and design. You will develop the skills to read and interpret terrain and to inventory and describe site systems and features, including physical, living, and cultural elements. Using these skills you will formulate a site plan and design scheme.

Landscape Architectural History examines designed landscapes from medieval times to the present, and across a range of geographies from Europe, Asia, and the Americas. You will study these works synchronically as well as chronologically with the development of several key historical concepts. You will learn methods to analyze historical landscapes and synthesize historical knowledge in written form.

Research Methods introduces the basic components of good research design: sound methodologies supported by research strategies and tactics based on the review of appropriate literature and assessment of available data. In the course, you will produce a body of clearly conceived research with its accompanying strategies, tactics, and literature review.
