I only got to know today that my mentor Dr. Mark Stevenson has published a book on Tibet, almost a year ago. Mark speaks good Sichuanese and Tibetan. It would be a very interesting book to read and would order it.....



Mark was a foreign student studying in Sichuan university many years ago... he was especially interested in Tibetan culture and concerned with the suffering of the Tibetan people...once we talked about the small book titled From Heaven Lake writen by Vikram Seth when he was a foreign student in the mid 80s. It was an extremely interesting small book which tells the author's stroy of traveling from Beijing, across Western China into Xinjiang, then from there into Tibet and finally crossed the border into Nepal and India. Vikram was probably the only foreigner who had ever crossed the border from Tibet to Nepal in the 80s.
