The other day, some of my fellow teachers and I were exchanging ideas elsewhere. At the gathering, the teachers from the other school were asked to guess which of us teach Chinese, which maths and which English and so on. To my surprise most of them could guess my subject. I asked them how they were able to guess it, they simply said: the feeling.

I always feel that there is something unusual about English teachers. I can’t tell what it is and why it is so. Look at the English teachers around you, make some comparison with other teachers, and you may find that there are indeed some true elements about it, at least in the following aspects.

1. There is no shortage of pretty charming women and cute handsome men in the group, though I’m an exception. Even not so, there must be something else distinctive about you.

2. English teachers can somehow speak better Chinese Putonghua than other teachers, even much better than lots of Chinese teachers in general.

3. It’s not difficult to find versatile English teachers who are brilliant and shining when singing and performing on the stage.

4. English teachers are mostly easy-going, good-natured and straightforward in getting along with others, and therefore often more popular with students.

5. English teachers are often more romantic in their life and full of passion and emotion in their teaching.

6. English teachers often behave more naturally and gracefully in open occasions.

7. English teachers can often step out of the of sophisticated world and conventional style and enjoy an independent, free life of their own, caring little about fame and fair, which explain why there are few leaders among them.

8. Most English teachers maintain a young and gentle heart and appear younger than teachers of their own age.

9. English teachers often lead the new fashion of life and closely keep up with the times.

10. English teachers can contact and accept foreign culture and new ideas more directly and quickly by reading foreign websites and listening to foreign radio stations at the earliest time.

几天前，我和几位同伴到别处闲聊，聚集在一起时，对方猜我们谁教语文，数学，英语等等。令人惊奇的是，对方的大部分都能猜出我教的学科。我问怎么能猜出的，他们只是说：感觉呗。

我一向觉得英语老师总有点不同寻常的特点，但到底是什么？为什么会如此？我却说不清。看看你周围的英语老师，与其他老师做点比较，你会发现还真有几分不同的地方，至少在以下十个方面：

1、英语教师中不乏帅哥美女，尽管本人例外。即使不是，你身上一定有什么别的不同之处。

2、不知何故，英语老师总的来说，比别的老师普通话讲得好，甚至超过很多中文老师。

3、在舞台上，你常常能看到多才多艺的英语老师唱歌，表演时那光彩照人英姿。

4、大部分英语老师天性良好，与人相处随和、直率，所以比较受学生喜爱。

5、英语老师生活中更浪漫；工作起来也更充满情感和激情。

6、英语老师在公开场合往往表现得更自然、大方、得体。

7、英语老师通常能超脱世俗，淡泊名利，崇尚独立自由生活，所以他们中很少有领导角色。

8、大部分英语老师能保持一颗年轻，和善的心，比同龄教师显得年轻。

9、英语老师通常引领新时尚，紧跟时代潮流。

10、通过第一时间阅读英文网站，听英语电台，英语老师能更直接、更快捷地接触和接受外国文化和新思维。
