说起PROFESSOR.K的大名，关注Sneaker比较早的很多人应该都比较熟悉。这位Sneaker界的“神”曾花费四年多的时间制作运营kicksology网站，完成了对超过150双鞋的测评，为无数鞋迷提供了莫大的帮助。他的评测一直是后来者的标杆，甚至能影响到对全球运动鞋的消费趋势（我本人就是看了他的那篇关于UltraFlight的测评才买了那双鞋的），而他用家里浴缸中探索出的鞋的照相方式和效果，更让无数SNEAKER倾倒。现在论坛里的那些经典造型和标准姿势，几乎都是是从他那里传下来的；踝部支撑、缓震、舒适度等几个分类也是由他开创的。

    遗憾的是，2004年底, 随着PROFESSOR.K被SOLE COLLECTOR杂志招安, 这个如球鞋圣地般的网站也不能再支撑下去了。虽然域名还在，但现在登陆能看到的只有网站倒计时关闭前的专访和少量评测文章。有一天在鞋狂上偶然看到一哥们的帖子，里面有一个下载之PROFESSOR.K之前几乎所有测评的链接，立刻下载了下来,越看越激动，于是萌生了一个想法，把这些评测翻译过来，让更多的Sneaker们看到这样优秀的测评。这个系列今后将不定期更新，尽请期待：

    回想01-02赛季，NBA赛场上adidas的签约球员几乎清一色的穿上了这双Promodel 2G，那种场面是何其壮观，那种普及程度也只有04-05赛季的2K系列可与之媲美，而其种类繁多的配色也是当时其他球鞋所难以企及的。今年恰好是Promodel的35周年，adidas又一次推出了一款Promodel的进化版TS Promodel。但对于大多数从那个年代走过的人来说Promodel 2G的那次升级才是最完美，最经典的，今天我就选择了Professor.K在2001年时写的一篇关于此鞋的测评，让我们在此重温这双经典中的经典吧：

The adidas Promodel line has been around for over four decades now and many a current and former NBA player has spent time in a pair, whether in high school, college or at the pro level. In 1998 adidas released a millenial update to the line named, appropriately enough, the Promodel 2G. It is, in my opinion, a wonderful visual blend of the old and the new, carrying over the classic shell-toe toe-cap that was an integral element of the original Promodel without being overly retro. But, ultimately, the true test of any hoops shoe is how it performs on the court and that's what this review is all about.

The name Promodel is a bit misleading as the adidas Promodel 2G really is not a shoe targetted at professional level players. With an injection-molded EVA midsole the Promodel does not provide the level of cushioning necessary for bigger, heavier players and would not make it through more than a month or two for serious college players. But for younger, lighter players at the junior high and high school levels the Promodel 2G is worth a look and, at $75, is definitely worth considering as a team shoe.
Promodel其实有一点误导，因为adidas Promodel 2G并不是针对职业球员所设计的。采用射出EVA的中底的promodel并不能够给体型较大的球员提供所需的缓震效果，对于一些大学球员来说它所提供的耐久度不会超过两个月，也许仅仅是一个月。但对于年轻的，体重较轻的初高中球员来说，promodel还是值得考虑的，在75美元这个价位，绝对是值得考虑的是一款鞋。

Since I've already mentioned the midsole, let's work from the bottom up. As noted, the midsole is made of injection-molded EVA (see our "in the paint" section for more on this) and lacks adidas' trademark adiPRENE cushioning technology. The upside to this is that the midsole is light, resulting in a relatively light shoe overall. The downsides are that the midsole does not provide an adequate level of cushioning for larger, heavier players and will degrade in cushioning performance fairly quickly as the open cells within the EVA foam collapse with wear. For players at or below the high school level this shouldn't be a big problem as players at this level tend to be much lighter (though there are, of course, exceptions such as Tyson Chandler who is coming out of high school at seven feet and 235 pounds). But for larger players the degradation in cushioning will probably be quite noticeable. I definitely felt a decline in the level of cushioning from my first wearing through my fifth wearing and I weigh 170 pounds.

In addition to durability of the cushioning, I also have a concern with the durability of the construction of the shoe at the midsole. The outsole of the pair I tested became detached from the midsole on the medial side of the forefoot of the right shoe after only three wearings. And after the fourth wearing the flapping of the outsole was a very obvious annoyance. It could have also been dangerous if that portion of the outsole completely detached while I was making a sharp cut. Luckily it did not, but it also did not do much to inspire my confidence in the shoe. While this problem would be easy to repair with a shoe specific glue such as Shoe Goo, it shouldn't happen and certainly not after only three indoor wearings. I'm tough on the shoes we test, but not that tough. That being said, since we only test one pair of each shoe it is possible that this was due to an isolated manufacturing defect (I am interested in hearing from anyone who has had a similiar experience with the Promodel 2G very soon after first wearing it).

While I did have a problem with the interface between the midsole and the outsole, I did not have any problems with the interface between the outsole and the court. On the contrary, the adidas Promodel 2G provides excellent traction and the toe-cap did a good job of providing my toes with an extra measure of protection against other players' wayward feet.
而我本来有曾对这双鞋中底与外底的接合部存在疑问，但却没有发现这一问题。与此相反，adidas Promodel 2G提供了良好的牵引力以及对于脚趾的保护，这种额外的对于脚趾的保护对于其他球员的脚来说也是十分有效的。

Moving up to the upper, the adidas Promodel 2G is another example of a shoe that does not have a lot of bells and whistles, but still provides a high level of fit and a good level of comfort. With regard to fit, I was actually quite surprised by how well the Promodel 2G kept my feet locked into place inside of the shoe. The fit was not overly tight, but there was no movement of my foot within the shoe either front-to-back or side-to-side. And because the shoe is built on a moderately wide last, it will accomodate a wide range of foot widths -- a must in any shoe meant for whole-team duty.

On comfort, the Promodel 2G feels a bit stiff at first, but after a couple of wearings the upper breaks in and the shoe feels much better, though never quite reaching the level of many higher-end hoops shoes. Some may find the amount of coverage at the ankle uncomfortable, but anyone who likes a shoe that offers a lot of support at the ankle will like the Promodel 2G. It's not cut as high as some of the shoes from back in the day, but the Promodel 2G does provide better ankle support than most other hoops shoes released in the past few years. And the bit of elastic material placed at the achilles notch to provide support without restricting foot-flex is a very thoughtful design detail (see figure 4).

So, the bottom line on the adidas Promodel 2G is that it's worth considering if you're a junior high or high school-level team looking for a good value in a team shoe (at $75 the Promodel costs a lot less than most shoes designed for team use). If you're an individual playing at these levels and don't need the level of ankle support provided by the Promodel 2G, you have lots of better options to choose from including the adidas Mad Handle and Nike Air Jet Flight. If you're at the college level or higher, the adidas Promodel 2G probably won't be adequate for your needs, and certainly not if you're looking for a long term performer. At these levels the adidas Bromium is a very good choice for team use, as is the Jordan B-Baller Pure.
如果你是一位初高中级别的球员，正在寻找一双性价比高的鞋子，低端领域的adidas Promodel 2G是值得考虑的（在75美元的Promodel 2G远比其他的为团队设计的鞋要便宜）。若果你是个个人发挥的球员，并不需要Promodel 2G所提供的踝关节支撑性的话，你有更多更好的选择，比如adidas Mad Handle和Nike Air Jet Flight。如果你是大学或更高级别的球员，或要寻找一双耐久性高的球鞋的话，adidas Promodel 2G可能并不符合你的需要。而在这个层次上adidas Bromium或Jordan B-Baller Pure对于团队来说是更好的选择。
