今天上英文写作课，我上交了作文提纲。老师不仅对我引用的电影大加赞赏，还给我的作文提纲来了个满分。只要有点儿小成绩，咱就得瑟一下。要不怎么说，骄傲使人进步呢。

不是，不是，上面是瞎说的。帖出来，我主要想和有意出国的学子们交流一下，看看美国老师对作文的要求是什么。

我要写的文章是世界空气污染，这篇作文我将主要以中美为两大“亮点”。等我写完了，如果再能得个100分，我就翻译出来。如果不能得100分，我就不费那个劲了。

Outline for Essay 3
1.       Introduction
(a). Story: American jazz star Patti Austin cancelled her concert in Beijing  due to asthma attack resulting from air pollution.
(b). Many diseases result from air pollution.
(c). Air pollution is a universal problem that troubles every country.  “There's so much pollution in the air now that if it weren't for our lungs there'd be no place to put it all.” (Robert Orben )
(d). Thesis:  Pollution imperils human lives and all countries are facing problem in pollution.
2.       Body paragraphs

Paragraph 1:
(1)    Overview pollution in the whole world.  Pollutions in air and water are the most common pollutions.
(2)    List cities with the worst outdoor air pollution.
(3)    Pollution makes people unhappy because it causes many diseases, including cancer.
            

 Paragraph 2:
             (1). Take USA as a special example. Review the general pollution situation in USA.
(2). Use American movie“ Erin Brockovich” as an example.  Based on a true story,  Erin in this            movie found evidence that the groundwater in Hinkley, CA  was contaminated with carcinogenic hexavalent chromium and this contamination was ignored for many years. Many local residents had cancers due to this pollution and they were unhappy and even angry.
(3). “Environmental pollution is an incurable disease. It can only be prevented(Barry Commoner ).
3.       Paragraph 4---Opposition
          Use Beijing, a heavily polluted city, as example:
     (1). Because air pollution is so severe in Beijing(BJ), many BJ residents wear face masks when they go out. The air pollution indirectly increases the profits in mask industries.
    (2). To limit air pollution from car waste in Beijing, cars with plates of even and odd numbers take      turns to drive during the weekdays. This rule could decrease the traffic flow and car accidents.
4.       Conclusion
      (1). Quote: “Sooner or later, we will have to recognize that the Earth has rights, too, to live without pollution. What mankind must know is that human beings cannot live without Mother Earth, but the planet can live without humans.”(Evo Morales )
     (2). Pollution cannot be ignored because it causes so many human diseases and makes people unhappy.
     (3 ). Pollution is a world- wide problem. Together we can improve air quality and make Mother Earth a healthy and beautiful place to live.
