我家小宝的棒球教练高度负责,几乎天天给我们家长发告示。哎呀,他有时间写,我好像都没时间读。这只是小宝的一项活动而已。如果小宝的其他教练也都这么发告示,我非成了读信专业户不可。
Hey Cubs,
The weather is about to cause us some potential
issues. I don't mind playing when we need extra
layers of clothing, but if it gets nasty, I will not put my little
guys in harm's way. So with that said, let's talk
about our "planned" activities, shall we?
Practice on Saturday: We are scheduled for a 6pm batting cage
practice for an hour at the Field 4 cage.
Saturday's temperatures and forecast look better than Sunday's, so
I hope we get to keep this one. Please dress in
layers and wear a jacket or heavy sweatshirt.
Having your ears covered is fine as well.
Practice on Sunday: We were given Field 4 for another practice
at 4:30pm this Sunday. The weather forecast looks
bad. If we have a good practice on Saturday, we
will not meet on Sunday. If Saturday does not
work out, this will be a backup practice.
However, if we have precipitation and it is ver cold out, we will
cancel this as well. We will make this decision
Saturday night.
Game on Monday: We are set to play this Monday at 5:15pm on
Field 5. My request is that you get there at
least 15 minutes earlier. I will be there by
4:45pm. The forecast isn't wonderful, but looks
playable right now. That of course is subject to
change. Remember, arrive early to bat early in
the line-up.
Friday to Airport: Hi folks, I needed to wait until today so
that yesterday's flight information was off the
hot-line. For now, tomorrow's (Friday's) flight
that we are going to support is still on. The
request is for volunteers to arrive at 5pm. Early
arriving volunteers help put up posters and fill goodie
bags. If you cannot arrive until 5:30pm, you
still should beat the troops. Park in the hourly
garage (closest to airport) and bring your parking ticket in with
you. It will be validated for free by the helpers
there. Park on the 3rd level by in section
H. Now, they have it blocked off such that you
have to go down or up and come back to level 3 near section
H. Go into the International terminal on the
bottom floor. Go to to the left and go to the
exit from Customers (big area, near escalators, you'll see other
helpers). Normally the troops start arriving
about an hour after the volunteer time. BUT AS I
HAVE SAID BEFORE: most flights have a minor adjustment, some major.
I will be checking the hot-line throughout the
day. Make sure you check it before heading
over. The number is (410) 630-1555 and please
listen to the entire message. For tomorrow,
another, later flight is also planned. It is a
bit late for my Cubbies. You can learn more by
going to http://www.operationwelcomehomemd.org/
What I can tell you is this: we have to be flexible, we may not be
able to go, the experience is worth planning a visit over and over.
I realize that this may be a bit early for some parents' work
schedules. If your Cub needs a ride, let me
know. I want every Cub to
attend this experience.
Cub-out: Our Cub Campout is set for April 29th at Patapsco State
Park. This area is off of Rt. 40 in
Catonsville. A lot more details will be provided,
but for now we have 5 campsites reserved. It is
my hope that your Cub (and dad!) can attend as this is an important
part of the Cub experience. We (Coach Brian and
I) will be asking for commitments by mid-April as, if needed, we'll
turn one campsite back in. If the Cub dad can't
go, I'll pack all the single Cubs in with me or put them with other
dads. Now is a good time to check your tent out
after winter to ensure it is still usable. Don't
go buy a tent if you don't have one; we will share as
appropriate.
I hope I've covered everything. Early spring
usually brings icky weather and this year has been no
exception. Give me a ring if you have any
questions. Go Cubs!
