这几天，我确实在为孩子的事情着急。主要问题是，孩子在原来的学校都是全A学生。搬到这里后，因为孩子上了超前两年级的尖子班，我又给孩子安排了很多课外功课，再加上我对孩子现在的功课又没给予足够的重视，致使孩子考试不理想。我知道，在批评孩子的同时，我也有错误。

我一直不明白，孩子7岁时读"哈利波特"，10岁时读"飘"，六年时写作考试是10年级的水平。一向让我们自豪的英文成绩怎么突然就不行了呢？疑惑中，老师给了我部分答案：孩子没按时交作业。

这个学校是美国蓝带中学，学习风气浓，老师要求严，就连国内的中学考察团都来这里取经。身处这样的学校，孩子真累呀，但家长又没办法。

今天上午，我给两位相关老师写了信，实事求是地介绍一下孩子的优点。现在已经得到英文老师的回复和鼓励。读了老师的信以后，俺心里稍微敞亮点儿了。

俺先露一面，汇报一下今天的进步。感谢新浪亲子博克首页推荐我的博客。今年，我大概会写写博文探讨一下美国的中小学教育。

附上我和美国老师的交流记录。自从俺下岗以来，俺的英文水平急剧下降。信写的很一般。俺的目标是，只要老师能看懂就行了。另外，信中俺家孩子的名字是假的。希望这样的信息会对一些家长有所帮助。谢谢大家的评语和留言。我都读到了，并且都记在心里了。

我给老师写的信：

Dear Mrs. J W:

First of all, Happy New Year to you!(先寒喧)

We feel very lucky to have you to be my daughter Nana‘s
English teacher. Thanks for your great effort and patience to my
child.(后表扬)

My family just moved here from St.Louis when Nana joined 8th
grade in BM School in August, 2007.  At her old school,
Nana was in the gifted class and was a straight A student. Since the
GT program here is largely different from the GT program in St. Louis,
Nana occasionally feels stress at school here and has to adjust her
routine study habit.(今昔对比)

Since Nana became a student at BM, I have made mistakes to educate Nana, because I asked her to do too many after school activities, like we did in St.Louis. This arrangement seriously affected her school performance. After we read her school report card and realized this problem, we are willing to adjust Nana's after school activities.(自我检讨)

During the winder break, Nana got up at 8 in the morning every day to review and pre-study her English Textbook. She herself is strongly willing to improve her grade in English. We are pretty confident on Nana's potential and trust her desire to be one of the best students. A few examples about Nana's reading and English skills are that she read Harry Potter at age 7 and Gone with the Wind at 10 years old. Her writing skill level was at Grade 10 when she was at 6th grade after being tested by standard exam in St. Louis.(表红心)

English course in the middle of January. Please consider Nana's
current situation, potential and her learning plan when you do

Thank you for this information about Nana.  Lately she seems to be much more comfortable in class; I'm sure this has to do with her becoming used to her new school.(鼓励)

I just checked my grade book and saw that she has an assignment (FRANKENSTEIN vocabulary handout) not turned in because of an absence.  Please urge her to turn that in to me.  The lack of this grade impacted her interim report.(建议)

I will certainly take the information you provided into account when considering Nana's recommendation for high school.(安抚俺焦虑的心)
