A 100 word (maximum) "statement of novelty" explaining why the work should be published。
must be provided as a separate document upon submission of your manuscript.
The "statement of novelty" must not be a retelling of the
abstract. When preparing the statement
please make sure to address (a) the significance and novelty of the
work, with respect to existing
literature, and (b) the scientific impact and interests to our
readership. Papers that lack significant novelty will be
rejected.

Prime Novelty Statement 和 Research Highlights什么区别
前者为投稿时要填的你文中的主要创新点声明；后者为你文中的研究亮点。
二者某种意义上是一致的，但前者更虚的、更简洁、更概括点，后者更接近文章的具体内容。

建议楼主在看文献时多关注一下，实验部分的前一段，也就是前言部分的最后一段，那儿基本上就是说该文章的new
idea，在novelty statement部分可以与cover letter 相似，好运！
至于novelty，你想想你的work到底哪有创新了，如果想不出来，也就证明你的introduction最后的部分没有写好，不建议立即投稿了
自己能写就自己写，写不了找导师写。感觉这部分还是很重要的，文章的创新点，以及论文的体现的价值直接影响你的论文能否接受，甚至影响到你的论文是否被送审
