I always hear my classmate who was in certificate III in Accounting last year talk about how good the teacher was, his name is John. Sometimes I used to see him in the building E of NMIT. At that time, I thought his cloth were very formal, everything else seem normal, but I only realized because I always commented on John was always very clear in his explanations. That's why he has great impression on me.

At the start of the term, L and I went to get our timetables. We saw that John’s name was in the timetable, L was very excited. But John taught us only one subject which was a bit disappointing.

Finally, John’s class arrived. John looked very neat and clean, his hair is very short with the perfect amount of hair gel, perfectly ironed suit with a snow white under shirt, a tie with different shades of blue. He stood tall with a great posture. He spoke fluently with a good pronunciation. Normally you might fall a sleep, but he made this subject seem alive. After the first lesson, I felt as if I had learned a lot.

During the second lesson, John was more active and made everybody laugh. That day, two students came late. Before the class, John told us that he didn’t like people coming late, when the first late student came in, john smiled and said:  “Good afternoon!”  Even though it was morning, that student came half hour late, embarrassed, she went and sat at a table in the corner. The second student was two hours late, confidently, he walked into the classroom and sat down. John politely walked over and said: “Look, you came so early, Can I ask you, when is your next class?” everybody laughed.

One night, John slept on his neck the wrong way. Before class, he explained: “I slept at the wrong way, so if I look at you with my head tilting, don’t fell awkward.” Everybody laughed again.

Once L told me that John had in a car accident and hurt one of his legs, so if he stood on it too long, it would hurt, but he would always stand to give the lesson, until it hurt so much that he couldn’t stand it any longer, he would apologetically glance at us before sitting down.

In our building, John was the most of gentlemanly and handsome guy. Most importantly, he taught his students very well. When ever somebody didn’t understand, he would patiently and clearly explain. When John would smile, I would find it very charming. During a class, he ask a question and everybody but one student got it wrong, he winked at that student humorously. That suddenly reminded me of my previous English teacher Anna, she was normally very strict, but when she smiled, she was very beautiful. Occasionally, she would wink at us like John, and it would be mesmerizing.

Looks like being good at teaching isn’t all you need to be a good teacher, you also need good personality.

Tomorrow I have to teach my own students. When I was a student, I found my teacher very inspiring and I hope my students are inspiring by me too.

This far into the story, I just remembered something that was very touching which happened last Saturday. It was the first day of the term at a Chinese school. I walked into the classroom and saw my students looking nervous and uneasy. They were all standing up and some of them standing on the tables. When they saw me, They rejoiced. I didn’t know what happened, so I ask and they answered that, they were rumors going around that the teacher has changed. They circled me and said: “Don’t go! We love you!” After I assured them that I wasn’t going, They went back to their seat and settled down.

That day was very emotional and as a teacher there’s nothing  more precious than my student’s adoration.

With effort, hopely you’ll become a great teacher that your students love.
