We launched a series of reports
on the soon-to-open Beijing Marriott Hotel City Wall this February,
and you readers must be quite familiar with the relative newcomer
after reading the first two reports, the latter of which centers on
the hotel management. In the third article, we shift the focus to
the hotel’s special arrangements during the forthcoming Beijing
Olympic Games 2008. What delightful surprises are in store for
hotel patrons this August? As a bridge between hotels and
customers, Grand Hotels magazine will help you readers understand
every part of the mega hotel’s preparations for the
much-anticipated international sports event. Under the wise
leadership of general manager Rauf Malik and a host of capable
executives, Beijing Marriott Hotel City Wall, the biggest hotel in
China’s capital city, is committed to a unique hotel experience
during the Beijing Olympics.
Malik was apparently in high
spirits when asked of the “special arrangements”, saying “We
have a good variety of carefully designed activities, all related
to the Olympics, such as performances, dinners and ceremonies.
Guests can celebrate their countries’ victories as much as they
want. The Olympic spirit and sportsmanship will permeate our hotel
this August.”
It is not easy to accommodate
guests flooding in during the Beijing Olympic Games, even for a
mega hotel like Beijing Marriott Hotel City Wall. Malik didn’t
appear too worried, since the hotel is going to keep the guest and
staff ratio at 1:1.5. That is to say, three staff serve two guests.
No wonder the general manager assured us, “Even if we have 100%
occupancy, guests needn’t fear they’d be
neglected.”
First-hand information from
Beijing Marriott Hotel City Wall shows the hotel’s opening price
in July is over RMB1200 plus 15% surcharge. We’ve also learned
that Beijing’s major hotels are already almost fully booked during
the Olympic weeks (August 8-24). However, you still have the
opportunity to reserve a room at Beijing Marriott Hotel City Wall,
opening in July, by visiting www.marriott.com/bjscw on July 1 and
onwards. Room price starts at RMB6,500 plus 15% surcharge (room
only) onwards, valid August 7-25, 2008. During this period, all
rooms would require an F&B guarantee of RMB1,800 plus 15%
surcharge per room per night, where guests can expect a whole new
dining experience in the Hotel. We believe that guests to stay at
Beijing Marriott Hotel City Wall during this period are sure to
arrive at the hotel in high spirits and go back home fully
satisfied.
The Beijing Olympic Games 2008
awakens China and its capital like spring breezes, bringing
numerous business opportunities to the hotels in Beijing. Malik
made a cautious yet witty remark on his hotel’s future, “After
the Olympics hotel revenues will surely go down, compared with what
we would have achieved during the sports event. However, both our
positioning and policies foretell a stable growth of turnover.” We
reported in the first part of the serial reports that Beijing
Marriott Hotel City Wall features 1312 spacious guest rooms, 7
unique concepts of F&B Outlets, the biggest Ballroom in Beijing
(over 2,000 sqm2 of meeting space), Olympic size swimming pool and
Marriott’s signature Quan Spa facilities—solid foundations on
which the mega hotel can take challenges without hesitation—that
ensure the hotel to fully satisfy guests’ various demands around
the year.
We would like to use adjectives
like “clever, passionate and forward-looking” to describe Mr.
Rauf Malik, general manager of Beijing Marriott Hotel City Wall who
didn’t forget to remind at the end of the interview you readers to
book a room as early as possible. A different Olympic experience is
waiting for you! Be sure to read our next report for more
information.
