“Music is a higher revelation than philosophy.” Be it tranquil or violent, music can change the way our heart breathes, and inject vigor into our soul. It touches us with instants which reveal the power of quietness, sheer sadness or unchained passion. Music brought by Peter Roberrecht the “Prince of Piano” featured in this article has a healing power. From his music notes we can tell purity and soulfulness, torrents and leaps, and our heart goes up and down with his drumming on the keyboard. Music fills Peter with joy and satisfaction. The following are his responses to an email interview of Ms. Cherry Li, Editor-in-Chief, Grand Hotels.

Cherry: How did you start your entertainment career?

Peter: My Mother began teaching me Classical Piano at age 6. At 7, I was performing in public for Recitals, School Programs and Homes. I began drum/percussion lessons and played in the School Orchestra while in High School, and in Senior High School, I was playing Piano in the Jazz Band, Orchestra and Snare Drum in the marching Band. At that time, I joined many Rock n'Roll Bands and began my Non-Classical Education. I play piano, keyboard, synthesizer, organ, guitar, bass, drums and percussion. I also won 2 Piano Scholarships at San Diego State University.

Cherry: What does this career mean to you?

Peter: Joy. Satisfaction.

Cherry: What is your current job and how do you like it?

Peter: Here in the United States, I perform in concerts from San Diego, California to Las Vegas, Nevada. In my hometown San Diego, when there is noconcert, I also perform in hotels, restaurants and bars as well as on special occasions and for special people including Californian Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Presidential Candidates, senators, congressmen, mayors, city officials and distinguished citizens. I love this part of the music business and my job is exciting. In Las Vegas, I play at Caesar's Palace, Mandaly Bay, Mirage and Bellagio Casinos.

Cherry: Please let us know your working experience as a great pianist, and with 5 star international hotels.

Peter: I always pursue high quality, and my experience encompasses top-rated properties. As a pianist, I bring publicity including TV, radio, magazines, newspaper and online articles to each property for which I play. In addition, my performances have been enjoyed by celebrities such as Neil Diamond, Andrea Bocelli, Lionel Ritchie, Robert Goulet, Linda Evans, Joan Collins, Steven Segal and Arnold Schwarzenegger, among others. Here are some other experiences: Elton John's RED PIANO; the upcoming Liberace's Mirrored Grand Piano Concert; winner of the Liberace Competition, winner of the Catch a Rising Star and Catch a Rising Super Star Talent Search, and winner of San Diego Symphony Summer Pops. My CD, "Memories of Her" was played on Cable across the USA. By this past New Year's Eve tickets of my concert had been sold out, making my highest wages ever, and the majority of the audience had never seen me perform prior to that evening.

Cherry: Any impression on Asia? Especially China?

Peter: My first impression of China/Asia is that the people here respect and embrace artists far more than in the US.

Cherry: What makes you different from all the other entertainers?

Peter: I have a unique and one-of-a-kind musical talent as a pianist. My interpretation of American Classic Rock is definitive and sets me apart from all other piano artists.

Cherry: What is your biggest dream and how are you going to fulfill it?

Peter: I will follow in the footsteps of the Great Liberace and his predecessors and achieve an elevated place in the music history. Liberace's Publicity Agent has dubbed me "The Rock n' Roll Liberace". The other part of my goal is to perform in concerts like the amazing Vladimir Horowitz, but play my own compositions. At 80, he returned to Russia to tour, and so many tickets were sold that people were seated on the stage!

Cherry: Any words you would like to say to readers?

Peter: Never underestimate your hotel musicians. At times, the hotel holds a musician to a specific playing standard that can be and has been different than the musical taste of the clientele. My success has arrived from pushing those boundaries whenever and wherever I perform, in the local lounge and especially in concert which is my main pursuit.

Success is never accidental. Peter has a talent to bring the best of his music, quiet or passionate, and it is clear that his enthusiasm in and devotion to music has moved all present. Isn’t it appropriate that we call Peter Roberrecht a musician who can touch the soul? His soulful performances have gone beyond the boundaries, awakening the love of music in people around him.

李嬿：您是怎样开始自己的演艺事业的？

彼得：在我6岁的时候我的妈妈开始教我弹古典钢琴。7岁的时候，我就可以在公共场合，比如说学校或者家里表演独奏。在中学里，我开始接触打击乐的课程，并且参加了学校的管弦乐队。到了高中的时候，我在marching Band的爵士乐队、管弦乐队以及打击乐队里弹琴，那个时候，我加入很多Rock n'Roll Bands开始了我非正统的培训，我弹钢琴、键盘、合成器、风琴、吉他、贝斯、打鼓和其他打击乐器，同时获得了圣地亚哥州立大学的奖学金。

李嬿：表演事业对您意味着什么？

彼得：快乐和满足。

李嬿：您现在的工作是什么，您觉得怎么样？

彼得：我在全美作巡回演出，从加利福尼亚州圣地亚哥市到内华达州的拉斯韦加斯。在家乡圣地亚哥，没有音乐会的时候，我会在旅馆、酒店、酒吧演出，有时也会因为特殊的人或事情表演，比如加州州长Arnold Schwarzenegger、总统候选人、参议员、国会议员、市长、官员和著名人士演出。我非常喜欢这部分的表演，我的工作非常令人兴奋。在拉斯韦加斯，我在Caesar's Palace, Mandaly Bay, Mirage and Bellagio Casinos表演。

李嬿：什么让您和其他演员有所不同？

彼得：作为一个钢琴演奏家我对某一种音乐有独特的天赋，我对美国一流摇滚的理解也使我和他们有所不同。

李嬿：什么是您最大的梦想，要怎样去实现它呢？

彼得：我将继续跟随Great Liberace的步伐并将他提升到一个新的历史高度，Liberace's的公开代理人已经授予我“The Rock n' Roll Liberace”的称号。我的另一个目标是想像Vladimir Horowitz一样在音乐会上表演，但是要用我自己的方式。在80年代，他回到俄罗斯区巡回表演，卖出了太多的票以至于观众都坐在舞台上看他演出！

李嬿：有什么想对《大酒店》的读者说的吗？

彼得：不要低估你酒店里的演奏家。有时，酒店拥有一个有独特表演方式的的演奏家，可以更好的拉进与客人之间的距离。我的成功来源于无论何时何地表演都会尽力拉近观众和我的距离，不管是在酒店大厅还是音乐会上这都是我努力追求的。

一个人的成功并不是偶然的，看过彼得演出的人都不难发现，他对音乐的热情已经感染到所有倾听他演奏的观众，无论是沉静还是激情，彼得都发挥的淋漓尽致。所谓灵魂的歌者是不是也可以用来形容像彼得这样的演奏家，他的演奏已经不仅仅局限于一种演出，而是一种能够激发出周围的人对音乐热爱的心灵呼唤。
