The Westin Bund Center Shanghai
celebrated the Grand Opening of The Grand Tower, featuring a gala
dinner with top performers and a celebrity concert at Heavenlies.
On 21st September 2007, the hotel marked this
prestigious occasion with a series of upscale media and VIP events
during the day and into the evening.
Investing a total of RMB 100
million, the previous service apartment building has been
successfully converted into the new Grand Tower, with the design
done by Hirsch Bedner Associates. Using a light earthy tone in its
décor, the rooms in the Grand Tower are sleek and airy. The former
residence tower underwent an extensive refurbishment and was
transformed into 269 plush rooms and suites, giving the hotel a
total of 570 exquisite rooms. The contemporary interior design is a
study in pure luxurious indulgence from extraordinary art pieces to
classy yet comfortable furniture.
One of the features of the
Grand Tower is the private lobby and front desk area. There, the
distinctive “humble man” statue awaits, perfectly poised to
welcome guests into the Grand Tower. Along with the signature white
tea scent and upbeat signature music, guests are offered a
refreshing elixir and a warm towel as part of the Westin Sensory
Welcome experience.
For health conscious guests,
the Grand Tower also comes with 2 WestinWORKOUT Rooms, which
include either a treadmill or an indoor cycle. The rooms also come
with exercise DVDs (including yoga), dumbbells, stability ball,
medicine ball, resistance tubing, exercise mat, a map with local
jogging paths and if requested, a running guide as
well.
Located on the top floor of the
Grand Tower, Emperor Suite is a spectacular 232 square meters in
size, and its spacious rooms rimmed with windows reveal a night sky
bejeweled by the bold lights of the Bund. Elegant marble and glass
fittings are softened by rich textures and embroidered lanterns.
With every major Shanghai landmark on the horizon, the massive
marble Jacuzzi is the ultimate abode from which to float above the
city and watch the lights reflecting in the Huangpu
River.
Each room is equipped with
innovative yet user-friendly technologies that enable guests to
watch popular television programmes at their schedule through IPTV
(the first five-star hotel in the city to offer the new television
system), order movies and review their bills on flat-screen LCD TV
(a 3rd set of LCD TV is installed in the bathroom of all Executive
Suites), listen to the tunes of their choice plugged into the
MP3-friendly audio-visual system, which also offers a massive
renewal-themed music database specially selected by The Westin.
With DVD player in each room and an oversized deep-soaking tub,
guests can enjoy instant relaxation and rejuvenation.

which include a round-the-clock business center, laundry, limo, a
two-level state-of-the-art WestinWORKOUT Powered by Reebok gym,

an awe-inspiring experience with both continental and local Chinese
favourites served in delectable a-la-carte and buffet styles
