Dear Editors,
I had been hearing so much about the new Le Royal Meridian Hotel, I decided to go check it out thoroughly.I walked
over all of the public areas and itis very modern and beautifully
designed. The back lit yellow marble is
everywhere and gives a very nice effect. The
first restaurant I tried was ALLURE, the French restaurant.
It is on the 11th floor, where the main lobby
actually is. As you come off the elevator, you
see the front desk and there is a lot of open space.
To the left is an open hall that goes past the
large open seating cafe type restaurant, Le Bistrot.
Then you pass a black grand piano with an
electronic playing device so the piano plays itself.
The music is very nice and it is fun to watch the
keys moving with no one playing them. Just past
the piano is the lobby bar, which is next to ALLURE.
I was early for my dinner reservation, so I
checked in with there staurant and then sat at the bar to have my
usual martini. They did a good job with that,
making it properly and giving me a "good pour".
While I was there the chef, Michael, and the
manager, Fanny, came out to greet me. It was a very nice touch.
When I came in for dinner I was greeted by their
well trained and pleasant wait staff. I looked
over the menu and wine list and found a good variety of food and
wine. The food and wines were served properly and
my whole meal was excellent. The chef and the
manager checked with me again during my meal to see if I was happy.
Indeed I was. Everything was perfect.
I am looking forward to going back again soon,
and I expect to visit repeatedly until I try all of the menu
offerings.
I had been hearing so much about the new Le Royal Meridian Hotel, I decided to go check it out thoroughly.
I decided after dinner to check
out the bar called 789 Nanjing Lu, which is the address of the
hotel. The bar occupies the floors 64, 65, and 66
and gives you the option of using the elevators or walking between
the floors on beautiful glass staircases. I spoke
with the assistant manager, Sally, who was very nice and showed me
around the facilities. The seating is spacious
and in a lounge setting, and on the 66th floor, some areas have
built in fireplaces. A private VIP room with
fireplace is also available. The views are
absolutely stunning on all sides, giving you 360 degree options.
There is a clear view of Nanjing Road and all the
lights of the Bund and the rivers. There are
provisions for a DJ and dancing on the 65th floor, and I hear there
is a party every Friday night. I will be sure to
go and let you know how good it is. Based on what
I have seen so far, I expect this bar to be very popular, not only
with the hotel guests, but as a destination for Shanghai residents
seeking a good time, with good drinks, and a spectacular view of
Shanghai.
I am excited to see the rest
that Le Royal Meridian Hotel has to offer. I will
be sure to tell you about my continued experiences
there.
