A nostalgic sense
of the Ramada Plaza Shanghai
More then a
century ago, early European visitors to the city often remarked
that Nanjing Road was the home of “Shanghailanders” – the great
Taipan, the merchant – adventurers, the rich compradors, the White
Russian émigrés and Jewish refugees; whilst today it is in this
most bustling of thoroughfares that Ramada Plaza Shanghai provides
modern business clients the greatest convenience and comfort
possible.
In a site where
Tibet Road divides Nanjing Road into its eastern and western
stretches, Ramada Plaza Shanghai offers close proximity to all
major city attractions; The Bund, People’s Square, the Grand
Theatre, the Museum and the Municipal Government are all within
walking distance.
Ramada Plaza
Shanghai is a 4-star international hotel inaugurated 8 years ago,
in 1998, then known as the Grand Nation Hotel. An establishment
invested by the Xing Hua Lou Group, the hotel has been under the
management of the renowned international hospitality group, Ramada,
since 2001. Centrally located in downtown Shanghai, the hotel’s
Continent-inspired graceful architecture forms an integral part of
the glitz and hubbub of the Nanjing Road Pedestrian. With its
resplendent décor, multiple amenities, extensive service and
hospitality, Ramada Plaza Shanghai welcomes travelers from across
China and the world.
The ultimate
goal of a hotel is to combine business and leisure, establishing
itself as a destination where in-house guests can live in comfort
and work with efficiency, while walk-ins dine and
unwind.
A hotel is
attractive in many ways. Impressive architecture and decoration,
spacious & well-furnished rooms, mouth-watery local &
ethnic fare, fully-equipped gym and multi-functional conference
hall, cordial attending staff and extensive services,
business-friendly setting and inviting vibe, all score high.
Whatever the attraction, premium location must be at the
top.
Ramada Plaza
Shanghai is situated on the Nanjing Road Pedestrian, Shanghai’s
prime shopping and business area. Its proximity to the very heart
of Shanghai, the People’s Square, makes the 4-star hotel an
over-value hospitality establishment to tourists and business
travelers alike. A string of historic and tourist attractions are
within walking distance, the world-famous Bund, Shanghai Museum,
Grand Theatre and more.
Transportation
is convenient as well. The hotel is at the midpoint between Henan
Zhong Road Station and People’s Square Station, and the metro can
take you to the bustling Lujiazui CBD (boasting the Oriental Pearl
Tower, Jin Mao Tower and other architecturally impressive
structures) on the other side of the Huangpu River in a couple of
minutes. No need to hail a cab, since Huaihai Lu (your ultimate
shopping destination), Xintiandi and Hengshan Lu (local nightlife
nexus) and Xujiahui (shopping & financial centre) are within 20
minutes by subway. Not to mention the high-end shopping malls right
on the Nanjing Road. An approximate 40- or 60-minute car drive will
take you to the Hongqiao Airport or Pudong International
Airport.
Hotel
architecture is typically western, with a solid podium and a facade
sunken vertically in the middle. When the night falls, the entire
building is illuminated, adding to the city’s romantic night
scene. In 2003, the hotel had a renovation and extension
construction, and the result is the exclusive Executive Floors
(floors 22-25) atop the old floors. All the Executive rooms are
facing an atrium decorated in an extravagant style, with rich
detailing inspired by the European art and brilliant gold lights to
double the resplendence. Steel lattice balconies, palm trees and a
white marble-column sculpture (part Corinthian, part Ionic), with a
plump angel standing on top of the ornate Corinthian capital and
another sitting atop each of the four simpler Ionic capitals,
combine to make for a romantic atmosphere.
To ensure a
comfortable and enjoyable stay, guest room is of vital importance.
Ramada Plaza Shanghai offers a total of 387 rooms and suites
(including 87 luxurious Executive rooms and suites), tastefully
decorated to ensure a delightful visual impression. The elegant
hues make a welcome complement to the deluxe furnishings. In-room
amenities feature individually controlled air-conditioning,
cable/satellite TV with voice mail, fully stocked mini-bar and
coffee/tea making facilities, and safe, etc., and the computer
data port strengthens the business function. Deluxe and Studio
rooms are more spacious and business-friendly.
For your
exciting gastronomic excursion in Shanghai, get a delightful start
with restaurants and bars attached to the hotel. A memorable
one-stop dining experience is awaiting you. Indulge in the
authenticity of the local cuisine, flavorful Cantonese food, and
innovative seafood specialties, or treat yourself to a delicious
international buffet dinner. Looking for alternative experiences?
Try the exotic Japanese, Thai and western delicacies. Every bite is
a pleasure in itself. The on-site Japanese teppanyaki cooking shows
the ingenuity and creativity of the cooks. Or you can just unwind
by the bar counter, enamored by the showy tricks of the flare
bartending performance, and gulp down the rainbow cocktails without
thinking twice.
The banqueting
floor (3/F) comprises 9 stylish seminar rooms and a multi-purpose
audio-video lecture hall, designed and furnished to fit for
conference, banquet and private party. With the top-notch business
amenities and an efficient professional team, it’s the best option
for a discerning event planner who wants to flatter participants
with an impeccable experience. Ascending to the 5th floor, you’ll
find the Grand Ballroom capable of accommodating up to 600 guests.
With an extensive foyer and a sumptuously decorated reception room,
it’s the No. 1 choice for hosting high-profile exhibition,
convention and gala reception.
For those
traveling on business, the best part after a day’s work is to sit
back and unwind at the Athena Health Club, receiving professional
beauty therapies and hair treatments in the Beauty Salon, building
muscles or keeping shape in the fully-equipped Gym, relaxed body
and soul by taking a sauna bath, body scrub and Chinese message.
For sociable purpose, in-house guests can meet new friends in the
Chess Room, where they can choose to play chess, card, billiards or
dart.
In addition, the
Executive Area includes an opulent lounge which combines the
coziness of a cabin and the attentive services of a saloon. Either
surf the net at the internet bar, E-Book, get the nerves eased with
the live entertainment of the Mayflower Music Lounge, sip the
high-tea at YAYI Café or simply drink in the breathtaking
panoramic views of Shanghai, it’s up to you. The new “saloon
cabin” adds to the refined taste of the Executive
Area.
Since its
opening in 1998, the hotel has played host to a string of grand
events, China WTO Entry & Enterprise Development Conference,
Facing the New Century International Forum, Ramada International
Brand Conference and the latest, the Reception for the 2nd Art
Festival of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. More are
expected in the future. It’s worth noting that the Executive
Floors were awarded the Decoration Prize by Ramada International
Group in 2004, making the area been appealing to the artistically
inclined guests ever since.
With a new
re-construction and decoration process coming to an end in 2005,
Ramada Plaza Shanghai was lifted to a higher level. It lives up to
your expectation, and beyond.
