Sitting in an austerely decorated American
Airlines office near People’s Park in Shanghai, Victor Lee looks
every bit the aviation executive. His suit is tailored
conservatively, his necktie tastefully unremarkable. He exudes a
kind of grandfatherly trustworthiness and prudence, though he is
only in his early fifties. Clear, active eyes
take in the entire room, resting on a scale model of a gleaming
American Airlines Boeing 777, which he eyes like a proud
parent.
Following a round of introductions and the requisite exchange of business cards, all precisely orchestrated by Grand Hotels’ editor-in-chief Ms. Cherry Li, Mr. Lee adjusts the band of his wristwatch, a clear indication that the small talk should cease and the interview commence. Just like an airline boss to be concerned with time......
