S501

APPLICABILITY OF CHAPTER

本章的适用性

 

The provisions of this chapter shall apply to the drivers of all vehicles owned or operated by the United State or the Republic of Palau, except as provided in section 402 of this title.

该章的条款适用于在美国或帕劳共和国所有拥有或驾驶交通工具的驾驶员,除了在标题的402节说明。

Every person riding bicycle or an animal upon a roadway, and every person driving an animal, shall be subject to the provisions of this chapter.

在车道之上，骑自行车或动物的人,以及驱赶动物的人,将受这章的条款约束。

OBEDIENCE TO POLICE OFFICERS

服从警官

It shall be unlawful for any person to refuse or fail to comply with any lawful order, signal or direction of any policeman with authority to direct, control or regulate traffic.

任何人拒绝或不服从任何法律规则,信号或任何有权指挥、控制或进行交通管理警察的指令都属于非法行为。

ERECTION AND MAINTENANCE OF SIGNS AND MARKERS

信号和路标的建立和维护

The president of the Republic of Palau may cause appropriate signs to be erected and maintained designating business, school and residential districts, and such other signs and markings consistent with the provisions of this title,as may be necessary to direct and regulate traffic，including signs notifying drivers of vehicles to stop before entering or crossing highways designated as through highways, and such additional signs as may be appropriate under the provisions of this title.

帕劳共和国总统可以在指定商业,学校和住宅区促使建立和保持适当的信号,及和这标题的条款一致的其他信号和路标,可以有效指挥和进行交通管理，包括信号通知交通工具的驾驶员停止的信号在进入或横过指定通过大道前，及在这标题的条款下面适当的附加信号。

 

 

S504

OBEDIENCE TO TRAFFIC SIGNS

服从交通信号

It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle to disobey the instructions of any official traffic signs placed or erected as provided in this chapter.

任何交通工具的驾驶员违反按照本章要求放置或竖立的任何官方的交通信号指令都属于非法行为。

 

 

S505

INTERFERENCE WITH OFFICIAL TRAFFIC SIGNS

和官方交通信号冲突

It shall be unlawful for any person to deface, injure, knock down or remove any official traffic sign placed or erected as provided in this chapter.

任何损坏外观,破坏,打倒或删除按照本章要求放置的任何官方的交通信号都属于非法行为。

 

S506

DRIVING ON RIGHT SIDE OF ROADWAY; OVERTAKING AND PASSING

右侧驾驶; 超车和通过

Upon all highways of sufficient width, other than one-way highways, the driver of a vehicle shall drive that vehicle upon the right half of the highway except when the right half is impassable or when overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction, in which case he/she shall pass to the left thereof at a safe distance and shall not again drive to the right side of the highway until safely clear of such overtaken vehicle.

在所有充分宽的大道上,不是单行道,交通工具的驾驶员将驾驶交通工具在大道右侧上行驶，除了右侧不能通行的或超车和穿过在同方向行驶的另一个交通工具,在该情况下他/她将行驶到左边在安全距离和不会再次驾驶交通工具在大道右侧上行驶，直到交通工具超车安全清除。

The driver of a vehicle shall not overtake and pass another vehicle proceeding in the same direction unless the left side of the highway is clearly visible and free of oncoming traffic for a distance of 300 feet.

交通工具的驾驶员不应超车和穿过在同方向行驶的另一个交通工具，除非左边的大道清楚可见和在300英尺的距离无接近的交通工具。

 

 

S507

FOLLOWING TOO CLOSE

距离过近

The driver of a motor vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard to the speed of such vehicles and the traffic upon and condition of the highway.

交通工具的驾驶员不应跟随另一个交通工具比合理的和审慎的距离近,考虑交通工具的速度和在大道上交通条件。

RIGHT OF WAY; APPROACHING OR ENTERING INTERSECTION, TURNS AT INTERSECTION; ENTERING HIGHWAYS

The driver of a vehicle approaching an intersection shall yield the right way to vehicle which has enter which has entered the intersection.

接近十字路口交通工具的驾驶员将屈从已进入十字路口的交通工具。

When two vehicles enter an intersection at the same time the driver on the left shall yield to the driver on the right.

当二个交通工具在相同时间进入十字路口，在左边驾驶员将屈从右边驾驶员，

The driver of a vehicle within an intersection intending to turn to the left shall yield to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is within the intersection or so close thereto as to constitute an immediate hazard.

在十字路口以内想左转弯交通工具的驾驶员将屈从在十字路口以内相反方向行驶任何交通工具，或距离太接近构成危险的交通工具。

The driver of a vehicle a public highway from a private road or driveway or from any unpaved road to a paved road shall yield the right of way to all vehicles approaching on such public highway or paved road.

交通工具的驾驶员从专用的道路或车道到公共的大道或从任何没有铺石砖的道路到铺设道路将让出右侧给在公共大道或铺设道路接近的所有交通工具。

The driver of a vehicle upon a highway shall yield the right of way to emergency vehicles.

在大道上交通工具的驾驶员将让出右侧给紧急事件交通工具。

 

 

S509

SAME; PEDESTRIANS 'RIGHT OF WAY

相同;行人右侧通行

The driver of any vehicle shall yield the right of way to a pedestrian on any portion of any unpaved road or crossing within any marked or unmarked crosswalk of a paved road.

任何交通工具的驾驶员将把右侧让给在没有铺石砖的道路任何一部分，或在铺设道路有标记的或无标记的人行横道以内的行人。

This provision, however shall not relieve the driver of a vehicle or the pedestrian from the duty to exercise due care.

这条款,无论如何不会减轻驾驶员或行人应具有的小心。

 

 

S510

SIGNALS ON STOPPING OR TURNING

停止或转弯信号

The driver of any vehicle upon a highway intending to stop or turn from a direct line shall give signals thereof either by means of the hand and arm or by signal lamp or lamps or mechanical signal device.

任何交通工具的驾驶员在大道上想停止或转弯，将打信号以手和手臂或者由信号灯或机械的信号设备。

When a motor vehicle is equipped with illuminated directional signal devices front and rear, and stop signal lamp or lamps on rear, such devices , when in proper working order may be used in lieu of such hand and arm signal. Otherwise the following hand and arm signals shall be use:

当汽车交通工具在前面、后面配备照明信号设备,并且在后面的停止信号灯, 设备在正常运转状态可以代替手和手臂打信号.否则将应用下列手和手臂信号:

(a) Stopping: extend the left hand and arm downward from and beyond the left side of the vehicle at an angle of 45 degrees from the horizontal.

(a) 停止: 从交通工具的左边伸出左手和手臂，水平 45度角向下。

(b) Left Turn: extend the left hand and arm horizontally from and beyond the left side of the vehicle.

(b)左转:在交通工具外伸出左手和手臂水平。

(c) Right Turn: extend the left hand and arm horizontally from and beyond the left side of the vehicle with forearm extending upward at an angle of 90 degrees from the horizontal.

(c)向右转: 从交通工具左边伸出左手和手臂水平，和前臂水平向上伸展到 90度角。
