Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic: Dating Is Popular with College Students. You should write at least 120 words according to the outline given below in Chinese:

   大学生对校园恋爱并不陌生;

   对此方方面面态度不一;

Sample 1:

Dating isnt a newly-born phenomenon in college. Some people are strongly against it. Firstly, they think that dating is time-consuming and students may not pay close attention to their study anymore. Secondly, undergraduates are neither fully psychologically mature nor able to assume the responsibility.

However, some students think differently. In their opinion, dating is good for them because it helps them study harder and make greater progress.

I think that everything has two sides. Dating also has its positive and negative aspects. If you can balance the relationship between dating and course study, you will benefit from dating. But if you lose your mind, then dating will have a harmful effect on your campus life. So wed better look before leap and be responsible for ourselves.

Sample 2:

Dating is a concept not far away from college students. On campus some lovers walk hand in hand, and some kiss or hug in public. When the majority of ones close friends are in committed (有密切关系的) relationships, to get rid of loneliness, some will date fellow classmates, while others are in long-distance relationships.

Different people show different attitudes. Young lovers say they have the right and freedom to fall in love. Some parents think college students have become mature, but its not good to start dating too early, and they should tell dating from marriage. Some teachers are worried that dating might be a great distraction (分散) from their schoolwork. School authorities (官方) neither encourage nor discourage it.

In my opinion, striking a balance between learning and dating is science as well as art. Students may benefit from these relationships. To balance work and play, they encourage each other to work hard. They can work more efficiently (有效率地) this way. So they get high grades while keeping a happy relationship. However, there are also some concerns: its a big deal for students to have a boyfriend or a girlfriend, and they should take their relationships seriously. When they fall in love at first sight, they should love on second thought.

Nowadays, it is common to see students dating on campus. Every now and then you can find boys and girls walking hand in hand and even embracing and kissing. However, a debate has arisen as to the phenomenon.
Some people dislike it. To them, college years are a time for study and to prepare for our future. Dating is a waste of time, energy and even money. To others, it is all right for students to date on campus. They argue that students have the right to date as they are grown-ups now. They also claim that dating on campus can teach lovers a lot about life and interpersonal communication.
However, from a personal perspective, I don’t think it is worthwhile to date on campus for three main reasons. First, it is a waste of time, energy and even money. Since most dating ends up in breakups, why do we bother to spend time, energy and money for nothing in the end? Second, dating on campus negatively influences our study and the academic atmosphere on campus. Some students spend so much time dating that their academic study is ignored. Some of them even fail in exams. Besides, it makes our campus full of shameless intimation in public. Lastly, dating on campus is not always happy and romantic. It may make a painful memory of our college life as it may have a painful ending.
In a word, for the sake of cause-effect, I am against dating on campus.

Many young people regret that they had not dated with any boys or girls when they studied in college. To them, love in college is pure and sincere. However, a recent survey shows that 81.7% of the college romances have ended in failure. Educationists urge college students to shoulder more responsibilities in their courtship, the Workers Dailyreported.

In fact, the fact that many college romances end in failure is because college students' state of mind is not stable. In addition, they face a heavy pressure in finding a job. Under such circumstances, their loving relations can not last for long.

For most students, they go dating only because they feel empty in mind and they want to find a way to kill the time. This shows that many college students do not have a right attitude towards love. What kind of romance is appropriate to students? Educationists say that as there are various social values existing in society, everyone might give a different answer. However, no matter how different the answer is, one thing is sure – one should be responsible both for one's life and for other people's life. Everyone should begin a love affair with someone only after they really know what love means to them, these experts say.

Have you ever noticed those pairs of young lovers on campus who dine together, go to the reading room together and depart unwillingly in front of the dorm building? They range from age 17 to 22. Far from home and alone, seeking friendship, love and understanding, the boys and girls easily find comfort and appreciation in each other.

On the one hand, love really does good to the young's development. The one with brilliant performance in study can be the encouragement of the other.  They compete and learn from each other, making an excellent match. Also in love, those who are accustomed to self-centered ways of thinking learn to take care of others and be considerate of others. They realize their responsibility as well as their importance. In a word, love makes one mature.

However, on the other hand, we cannot ignore the side effects that dating brings to the university young. Love and tenderness take time. Frequently going out on a date may result in frequent absence from class, which will undoubtedly hold up their learning pace. This should be taken seriously by those who indulge in sweet romance.

-      I think dating on campus has its advantages as well as disadvantages. Firstly, …. Secondly, …. Thirdly, …. In a word, the experience of dating on campus is precious for college students if they can deal with it properly.
-      To me, dating on campus has more advantages than disadvantages…… In conclusion, dating on campus is proper for college students.

Problems with your compositions:

e.g. –“The more forbidden the love, the stronger it becomes”, so in the college, it is not forbidden.

- In my view, maybe it’s bad or good.

- … they can make more friends and learn more things which they have known before.

e.g. –It is a necessary sign and normal.

e.g. –The phenomenon is very common and usual in now college yard.

e.g. –On the other hands, the university students in particular new students subjected them to a very difficult affect and sometimes will bring us a matter of study question.

- Dating is so early as a student.

- Providing a sense of security, and a great diversion from troubles, they feel happy.

- They would keep firmly in mind through his life.

e.g. -…will aid up their parents’ pressure. -…may effect their study.

-Every aspect has different views.

- …especially students of grade three and grade four.

e.g. –it also become… -someone insist on…
