         To Lucasta, Going to the Wars

Tell me not, Sweet, I am unkind

  That from the nunnery

Of thy chaste breast, and quiet mind,

  To War and Arms I fly.

True, a new Mistress now I chase,

  The first foe in the field;

And with a stronger faith embrace

  A sword, a horse, a shield.

Yet this inconstancy is such

  As you too shall adore;

I could not love thee, Dear, so much,

  Loved I not Honour more.

爱人，别说我不仁义

  撇下这样圣洁纯良

如修女一般娴静的你，

理查德·拉夫罗斯（Richard Lovelace，1618-1658年），英国诗人。他当时是一个时髦而浪漫的名人，查尔斯一世宫廷里的骑士派诗人之一。他最著名的诗是《在监狱致阿尔泰亚》，其中有这样的诗句：“监狱不是石墙砌成的，笼子也不是铁栅制成的。”

拉夫罗斯出生于英国肯特郡一个富有之家。1642年，在英国“大叛乱”时期，他曾因保皇主张被短期逮捕入狱，诗歌《在监狱致阿尔泰亚》正是创作于此期。1646年他在法国军队服役，回国后再次因参与保皇派活动而入狱。他死的时候一贫如洗。他的兄弟将他的大部分诗歌汇集为《卢卡斯塔》(Lucasta：Posthume Poems)（1659年）出版。
