据资料介绍：镇雄天坑位于五德镇新寨村的大锅圈天坑群海拔1440米，距离镇雄县城51公里，占地面积约600亩，包括6个大小不等的天坑，其中最大的3个天坑分别是大锅圈、小锅圈和三锅圈。当前镇雄天坑群共查明共有溶洞204个；

2015年6月5日至8日，国土资源部中国地质调查局岩溶研究所的专家，对镇雄县的旅游资源进行探险考察，科考队发现了亦今为止云南最大的天坑群。
