二. 比较级的用法

1. 表示两者之间的比较，最常用的句型是

  形容词/副词的比较级+than

2. 下面这些词可以加在比较级前面进行强调

  eg. so/very much, much, many, far, even, still, no. a little, (quite) a lot, (just) a bit, a great deal, rather等。但不能单独使用very进行强调

  注意：当more（许多，很多）后面接的是复数可数名词时，要用many进行强调；当more后面接的是不可数名词时，要用much进行强调

3. 有个别几个以-or结尾的词，在使用时不能使用than, 只能使用to

①be anterior/prior to 在…之前，比…早       be posterior to 在…之后，比…晚

②be superior to 比…优/好                  be inferior to 比…劣/差

③be senior to 比…年长，比…等级高         be junior to 比…年幼，比…等级低

4. 在比较级前加数词可以表示倍数

  eg. It is one fourth cheaper than the market price.

5. 句型：as+形容词/副词原级+as或not so/as+形容词/副词原级+as结构，表示前者和后者都一样

  注意：一般讲否定结构not so/as+形容词/副词原级+as结构中使用as或so都可以，但在托福考试中只能使用so

6. 比较级+and+比较级结构，表示逐渐增加或减少

7. the+比较级…，the+比较级…（正向比较），表示“越…就越…”，一方的程度随着另一方的改变而改变；它的反向比较级也可以这样用：the less…, the less… 而且这两个句型可以交叉使用

  eg. The more careful you are, the less mistakes you will commit

8. 有时more than不表示比较关系，而表示“不止是，极其”等意思，在这种情况下的反意结构为less than

  eg. My vistit to Beijing is more than sightseeing.

9. 结构“more+原级+than” 表示同一种事物两种不同性质的比较，意为“与其…不如”。在这种情况下，无论该形容词是以何种方式变比较级的，在该结构中都永原级

  eg. She is more mad than stupid.

10. no+比较级+than 意为“和…一样不…”

   not+比较级+than 意为“不如…”

11. no more than 意为“仅仅，只不过”

   not more than 意为“不超过，顶多”

12. not so much A as B  意为“与其说A不如说B”

  eg. James is not so much a writer as a reporter.

13. more A than B 如果A和B是并列或平行的名词，表示“与其说B不如说A”

  eg. James is more a reporter than a writer.

14. 常用短语

  as good as 简直是，与…一样，实际上就等于

  nothing less than 和…一样，不亚于，简直是

  other than 除外，不是，与…不同

15. not/none the+比较级+for/because 不因为…就/而…

  eg. A good tale is not the worse for being read twice.

16. all the+比较级 表示“更加”

  eg. A long delayed home letter is all the more welcome.

17. 一般比较级前不用the, 但若指两者中比较…的一个，而且没有than，那么，这个比较级前就应该用the
