1917年4月26日生于中国苏州。1935年8月赴美国宾夕法尼亚大学建筑学院留学。后在美创建贝聿铭建筑事务所。作品有美国国家艺术馆东楼，整修一新的巴黎卢浮宫，香港中银大厦，中国北京香山饭店等。贝聿铭被誉为20世纪最重要的建筑师之一，现代建筑大师。
