Beautiful, compelling, refreshing and intelligent would quite easily summarise One eskimO's album All Balloons; however these words alone simply could not justify the credit that this record truly deserves. The songs are fresh and exciting but at the same time warm, welcoming and a joy to listen to, with romantic, feel good qualities that will make your heart soar and leave you feeling a certain sense of hope and happiness.

The genius with which the songs are written is portrayed early on in the second song on the album; Astronaut. The track opens with a beautiful piano intro that paves the way perfectly, setting the scene for the songs gentle acoustic guitar strumming and harmonic vocals, all of the time supported by an atmospheric backing that compliments every aspect of the song. The singer's voice is beautiful but at the same time masculine - excellent qualities that enable him to appeal to a wide varie  of listeners.

Simpleday is another stand out track. The plucky and up-beat guitar picking and wordy yet well written lyrics fit perfectly together, giving the song a real Jason Mraz style feeling. The words tell a story that is realistic and relevant, that allows listeners to relate to the song, which is a truly unique and appealing quality that not many artists are able to achieve. This is definitely a summer listening record that has the ability to transport listeners to a beautiful place, whether they are sitting on a beach somewhere or riding the tube to work. It can either compliment your surroundings or allow you to escape to somewhere you would much rather be, all of the time letting you know that no matter what happens, everything will be okay in the end.

Amazing is yet another well written and positive song on the album. A recurring, happy chord structure acts as the foundations of the track, which deliver helping after helping of acoustic joy. A subtle drum backing strengthens the track half way through, all of the time building up to the strong guitar strumming and vocal core of the song.

Be prepared however, for the come-down track of the album; UFO - a tear inducing yet crushingly beautiful track that may not be as heart breaking if it wasn't for the relationship you can't help but develop with the singer throughout the record. A moody, ambient, slightly electronic backing (reminiscent of Massive Attack's Teardrop) is the setting for the song, with heart-felt vocals that would make the likes of James Blunt jealous.

This is an exquisite record that will carry you on an emotional journey. Major and minor elements will keep you interested in every song with relevant and world-wise lyrics maintaining your relationship with the singer constantly.

The record almost tells a story without sounding like a Streets CD, whilst the song writing credibility of the band remains uncompromised all the way through. This is a genuine and beautiful album that will leave listeners from all walks of life united and hopeful, with a sense of appreciation and understanding of something that they can't quite place their finger on.
