教授之死 Death of a Professor

这篇悬疑小小说，讲的是一个教授在临死之前终于明白了，谁是他的真爱，不过事情还没那么简单。。。
Part
1
The car swirled abruptly
off the mountain road and plunged steeply. Desperately scrambling
to grab something to hold back the free fall, he found his effort
was in vain. The horrified professor realized he would pay the
ultimate price for his fatigued driving --- his life.
Flashbacks of memories
hallucinated – not schools nor families, but the face of a woman.
Time to resolve his lifetime puzzle – which was his ultimate love?
Was it his wife Kate, or the unforgettable Annie, his college
student with a red dot on her temple, whom he had one fling
with?
He felt the final
deathblow was just seconds away. The obscure face looked very sad.
The car hit ground heavily. He collected the final strength to
recognize the face, with searing pain tearing his bones and flesh
apart. It was too late.
Just before the total
blackness engulfed him, he saw it -- the red dot, and felt it -- a
drop of tear from the face.
It was
Annie.
Part 2
“Get up! You lazy Dog!”
Kate’s high-pitched voice pulled him back from the nightmare. He
squeezed his eyes and pinched his legs. “I am still alive!” He let
out a sigh of relief. It was just a dream.
Then he saw it, a red
dot on Kate’s left temple. “How come you got a hickey on your
temple?” he got nervous again.
“You bit me while
groping me with your dirty hand, you were a real animal last
night.” Kate chuckled. “But I loved it.”
The face from last
night’s dream became blurry again. They both had a red
dot.
The phone rang. He
picked it up.
“Hey, this is Annie
calling, professor! So are you ready for our field trip in the
mountain? You got to freshen up and drive safe. It will be a long
trip and the mountain road is very slippery.”
A chilling thrust
convulsed him from head to feet. Dared he to go? Who was that teary
face with a red dot in his dream – his ultimate love? Kate or
Annie?
