《左传》又称《左氏春秋》、《春秋左氏传》。其作者相传是与孔子同时的鲁国人左丘明。《左传》是“十三经”之一，同时又是历史著作、文学著作。本书在翻译过程中，力求逐句直译，语言流畅。并且尽可能地参考了古代和现当代学者的研究成果，意在融会众美，择善而从。

Compiled on the basis of the record of events preserved in various states during the first years of the Warring States period,Zouzhuan(Zuo's Commentary) is a book devoted to render an interpretation of Chunqiu(the Spring and Autumn Annals).As for the question of authorship, it has been generally accepted that the putative author of this work is Zou Qiuming, a court historiographer of the State of Lu,who was a younger contemporary of Confucius(511-479B.C)

Apart from being one of the "Thirteen Classics in the field of Confuciusm",it is widely acknowledged as a giganitic historical book and an epoch-making literary works.In the process of our translation we have made it a priciple to unfold the original in a pithy style.As for the presentation,we have done our utmost to get the exact meaning of the original with the help of the results achieved by the former scholars.But, instead of sticking only to  a single expert,we "choose and follow what is good".
