世界首例人工干细胞合成气管移植手术在瑞典成功完成。这段气管移植在一癌症病人体内。研究者们首先将该病人这段气管做成玻璃模型并将它浸泡在含有该病人干细胞的骨髓溶液里;而该气管的内壁组织细胞则源自病人的鼻部;然后待它们共同长成。这是一个较快的培养过程,因它只需两天到一周时间,又因它是利用病人自身的细胞,没有器官排斥的危险。
FIRST TRANSPLANT OF SYNTHETIC ORGAN: Surgeons in Sweden have successfully carried out the first synthetic organ transplant, implanting a lab-grown windpipe in a man suffering from cancer. A glass replica of the patient’s windpipe was soaked in a solution of stem cells taken from his bone marrow and lining cells taken from his nose until the windpipe was fully formed. Apparently it’s a quick process: A windpipe can be made in between two days and a week, and because it uses the patient’s own cells, there’s no risk of organ rejection.
