airports were shut and flights were grounded across the United
Kingdom on Thursday because of ash from a volcanic eruption in
Iceland, airport authorities said. Ash from Iceland has prompted
aviation officials to restrict flights over parts of Norway and the
United Kingdom. The ash also caused delays in some flights leaving
the United States.
