昨天下午我处理完手头一点工作，陪着朋友夫妇去太浩湖游玩。冬天的太浩湖美得令人窒息，难以用言语赞誉。我眺望着湖面划浆的男生，朋友说起有个女生要结婚了，他太太开玩笑问：那男生有没有PHD(papa has doe，爸爸有钱)啊，还说结婚的女生最好有PHT(push husband through，懂得推进先生)，这样两个人以后的日子比较好过，是这样吗？哈哈。

俯瞰太浩湖的Fannette Island(安妮特岛，上图)，相象当年建岛女主人每年夏天，偶尔邀请几个朋友到岛上Tea house喝茶，是怎样一种富丽奢靡？而我可以选择的生活是安静地看很多人在太浩湖畔遛狗享悠闲：

Ready or not, someday it  will all come to  an end.   不管你是否有心理准备，人生总有尽头。

There  will be no more  sunrises, no minutes,  hours or days.   那一刻，将不再有分分秒秒和晨昏昼夜。

All  the things you collected,  whether treasured or  forgotten,will  pass to someone else.

你所收集的一切，想珍藏或遗忘的，也将传让他人。

Your  wealth, fame and temporal  power will shrivel to  irrelevance.  无论拥有财富、名望还是权力都将逝水而去。

It  will not matter what  you owned or what  you were owed.   无论欠或被欠都已不重要。

So  what will matter? How  will the value of  your days be measured?   所以，什么事情是重要的？人的价值在哪里？

What  will matter is not  what you bought, but  what you built;   无论你购买什么还是建造什么，

not  what you got, but  what you gave.   不管你得到什么，或是给了别人什么。

Your  grudges, resentments, frustrations,  and jealousies will  finally disappear.  

妒忌、怨恨、挫折和猜忌将消失消失殆尽。

So,  too, your hopes, ambitions,  plans, and to-do lists  will expire.   同样的，你的希望、抱负、计划及任何细节都将终止。

The  wins and losses that  once seemed so important  will fade away.   输赢也如云雾而散。

It  won't matter where you  came from, or  on what side of  the tracks you lived,  at the end.   无论从何而来又将去哪里，

It  won't matter whether  you were beautiful or  brilliant.  无论你是否美丽动人或明艳，

Even  your gender and skin  color will be irrelevant.   甚至性别和肤色都没有关系。

What  will matter is not  your success, but your  significance.   重要的不是自己的成功，而是你曾经做了哪些有意义的事体。

What  will matter is not  what you learned, but  what you taught.   重要的不是自己学到什么，而是教导了别人什么。

What  will matter is every  act of integrity, compassion,  or sacrifice that enriched,  empowered or encouraged  others to  emulate your example.  

重要的是对每件事你是否尽过全力、心怀悲悯、充满勇气或奉献牺牲，让其它人因此更富裕、更有能力或受到鼔舞。 

What  will matter is not  your competence, but  your character.   重要的不是能力，而是优良的品格。

What  will matter is not  how many people you  knew, but how many  will feel a lasting  loss when you're gone. 

重要的不是认识多少人，而是你走后能让多少人会深深怀念。

What  will matter is not  your memories, but the  memories that live in  those who loved you. 

重要的不是留下声名，而是在爱您的人心中留有多少回忆。

What  will matter is how  long you will be  remembered, by whom  and for what

重要的是能留在人们记忆中的时间有多长，是什么样的作为使人难以忘怀。.

Living  a life that matters  doesn't happen by accident.  快乐的生活并非来自偶然，

It's  not a matter of  circumstance but of  choice.   也非命中注定，而是自己一连串的选择。

While  you meet something beautiful, the  first thing you should  do is to share  it with your friends  anywhere.

当你遇见美好的事物时所要做的第一件事，就是把它分享给你四周的人。

So  that these beautiful  things will be able  to spread out literally  around the world. 

 才能让这些美好的事物确确实实的散播到世界各角落。
