岁月无痕，当我蓦然回首，翻阅着自己的心灵，总有一段段记忆在生命中留下深深的痕迹，无法忘却。每当我想起中国未来领导精英CFL项目时，心里总涌动着一丝久违的冲动，这便是感动。

　　总是认为自己是一个小人物，不会掀起什么波澜，但渴望能够成为浪尖的一个小水珠，领略天空的广阔，欣赏彩虹的秀美。纵然十分渺小，仍旧可以贡献自己的绵薄之力；纵然十分平凡，仍旧可以活出属于自己的精彩；纵然十分普通，仍然可以为这个世界增添一种名叫“感动”的元素。We are China Future Leaders, and we’ll take our responsibility.

I’m Emma Liu, who is selected to this CFL Project in 2009 winter to UK. I’ve just got an internship position in the CitiGroup in Manhattan New York this fall. Looking back on the things I’ve experienced, I’m still excited about CFL(China future Leadership) Project, which really adds value to me, and I appreciate the endless benefit and happiness from this wonderful program.

Oxford Professor

The first amazing activity of this CFL agenda is a lecture given by the worldwide notable professor Avner Offer, Professor of Economic History at University of Oxford, he introduced the British economy in yesterday, today, and tomorrow, compared two economic systems between China and UK, at last answered our questions. I asked a question,” Ever since the oil crisis in 1973, many countries have come to realize the importance of energy conservation. Individual nations, therefore, have taken measures to conserve energy. E.g. the ELC (Energy Conservation Law 1979) in Japan. Although they play key roles in protecting the world’s energy resources, international leadership and co-operation have not lived up to the expectations yet. E.g. UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) in 1992, KP (Kyoto Protocol) in 1997, US refused to enter, Australia followed suit. What is your opinion about this globally financial crisis? it seems many people lost confidence.”

Professor Offer said this is due to human nature, this is exactly the field of his, and he explained a lot clearly, and said, ”The fact will confirm our confidence!”From them on, I became passionate about entering the financial industry, concern about current events, read newspapers and browse websites. This lecture is valuable experience for me, learning how to make decisions, learning high things about strategy, and the most important thing, learning to learn about myself form a new angle.

Cambridge Professor
Another impressive experience is in Cambridge University. It’s more fashion and modern when compared with Oxford, the ancient giant. We feel honored because the person who invited us and gave us half a day is Prof. Keith S. Taber, Professor in Science Education and Programme Manager for the part-time PhD in Education Department of University of Cambridge.

The spectacular architecture and peaceful scenery just helped us cast all the sadness to the winds. Enjoy such environment would achieve a high level of spiritual insight, and get rid of boisterous, jovial commotion or excitement.

The most interesting part is obviously the discussion with Prof. Keith, who concern the education aspects.

Previously, especially in middle ages, education was controlled by the Church, only the rich and powerful had the opportunity to receive education which lead them to success. However, ever since 11th century universities at Paris, Oxford, Bologna had broken such monopoly. My question is how the university in Britain or Cambridge will finance the students who are poor but talented.

I’m surprised by hearing Prof. Keith praised this is an interesting question, and explained, “one’s education and ability outweigh his family background and social connection. In countries like UK, US, Canada, etc actions with regard to “equal opportunity” in education and employment has become effective for years. E.g.  in US EEOC (equal employment opportunity commission) etc.” This answer gave more than I expected and I’m very satisfied with it.

Other activities are also very impressive, like LSE, BBC, London Bridge, and so on, but the most excited aspect I have to mention is that CFL team members are wonderful! All of them I have to say. Because of our wonderful members, this trip become more colorful. We come from different universities and different background, but get along extremely very well. This friends, I cherish them a lot, because they are whom I can really lean on, especially when this project is finished and we came back home. We really keep in touch, and hold parties. I’m moved when I'm not strong, when there is a load I have to bear, or whenever I have pains or sorrow, they'll help me carry on, and tell me there's always tomorrow.
